Found a Yorkie running down busy street on Memorial Day
 
He was running super fast down a very very street. We pulled over and were able to corner him and gently took him into the car. He was lifeless. He would barely move. I was really worried so I took him to the emergency room. The vet told me that he is 2 years old and weighs 4 pounds. The vet gave him some liquids and pain meds.

I have been searching for the owner everywhere and can not find him. The dog is so depressed. I took him to get his shots and to be groomed, in hopes that it would make him feel better.

He seems to get excited when I get home, so I guess he is getting better. I'm worried about his poop since it is very liquidy and I am worried he is never going to get out of his depression. He doesn't play, doesn't chase any balls nor does he play with toys, he just likes tummy rubs and he sleeps a lot.

He is trained to go on the pottypads which is great. I'm still not sure if I am going to keep him.

I just can't believe his owner did not chip him, put a collar on him or put a tag on him.

I'm slowly falling in love with the little guy...

It's great that you got that little guy out of harms way and your taking care of him. But I feel you may be judging the owners to harshly. He may have slipped out the door before anyone could catch him hence not having collar or tags. Someone may have stolen him and taken them off and he managed to get away from them. He may be depressed because he misses his owner. I hope he either comes out of the depression or you somehow can find his owners.

Poor little guy : ( Why did the vet give him pain meds? He seems like his missess his family so much. i am glad you took him in and are taking such good care of him. I wonder where he came from? I hope he is going to be ok, and feel better soon.
Has he been fixed? He is not microchipped? Nobody is missing him, have u checked CL?

What a wonderful person you are to take this sweet baby into your home. I would be willing to bet that he is depressed because he is missing his family. Now that you have taken him on as your responsibility, you need to do everything in your power to try to find his owners. There are countless ways to attempt to find his owners. Place an ad in your local newspaper. Make up flyers for a FOUND yorkie. Place them all over the area that you found him as well as at all local vets offices and the local shelter. . Post a FOUND yorkie ad on Craigs list. Place flyers at the local grooming shops. I am sure his owners are frantically searching for him. Good luck in doing the right thing and finding his family

maggiesmom_2007 - I see what you are saying...little guys like him can escape at any moment. I am frustrated with the owners because they haven't looked for him anywhere :( I have checked with the shelters, CL, and Findfido.com.

mscat - Nope, he is not fixed and does not have a chip. I really hope he gets out of his funk, I kinda don't know what to do.

Sunnie - I would love to make "FOUND" posters and post them where I found him, but here in Los Angeles, this little guy is worth a fortune. Since he is so small, I could probably get like $2,000 for him, even without papers. I thought that putting up FOUND posters would just make a lot of fakers come out and try to get him and it's going to be very hard to prove that he really belongs to them. I did go look to see if the owners put "LOST" posters up, and they did not. I checked to see if he was reported missing, and he isn't. It feel like no one is looking for him. :(

Bless your heart for taking the little guy in and even better of you to go as far to take him to be seen by a vet. His symptoms are normal as he has been through a lot for who knows how long. Sounds like you're giving him all the love & attnetion he needs & I'm sure he'll come around in no time. It's defnitely easy to fall in love with these little guys! :) You can try putting flyers up or posting in your local craigs list or pennysaver but I think if the owners really wanted and missed him, they'd be doing all they could to do what they could to find him!!!

I am guessing that he is depressed because he is missing his family. His collar could have slipped off, and he could have run out the door.

Make sure you do everything to reunite him with his family before you even think about keeping him. Imagine how you would feel if someone kept your pup and did not make any effort to find you :(

It was exceedingly generous of you to take him to the vet and care for him the way you are doing. Good for you.

Is it possible that he is lethargic because he is dehydrated from the diarrhea?

I think this story demonstrates that everyone should get their dogs chipped, because you never know.

Thank you so much for taking this little guy in. Where abouts in CA are you? I remember reading a post not too long ago about someone losing their baby in CA. Maybe he can be it? I will look for the post.

Guess not it was a female. Well I hope you are able to find his owner soon. THat may be the reason he is depressed, poor little guy.

You can make "found" posters without even stating if it is a male or a female. Make sure that anyone who calls about him descibes him to your satisfaction. I cannot imagine that they are not looking for him. It has only been a few days and they could have put an ad in the paper and it not been published yet because of the holiday. Especially if they spent a day or two looking first.

there are a few posts about lost yorkies in the LA craigslist. Search under pets, and you can see if any of those posts look like the dog you found.

I would be heart sick if Mia was lost. We all would be fortunate to have some kind person like you care for our dogs until we were located. I hope they are not off on a vacation or something.

I saw a sign at Los Gatos Creek Dog Park saying someone lost their dog named: debbo. It was a 5lb yorkie. I'll go tomorrow and get the info. Are you in the San Jose area?

What a very lucky little boy to have found you. As you don't know his background he could of escaped from a horrible home? You need to see if he becomes happier while with you, if he does then I think he may of had a lucky escape. If the last owner didn't put a collar on him or microchip him then they have been a bit irresponsible don't you think? Who knows. I hope you decide to keep him.:)

Any updates? Are any of the lost Yorkies him? I feel bad for him but omg, his poor family. And if they have children too? So heartbreaking. I'd be nuts!!!!!

Thank goodness you found him before he got hurt, or worse! It is heartbreaking reading those missing yorkie postings, I can't imagine having to deal with that. Good luck to you, I hope you find the owners, if not he is lucky he has you:)

It is very nice of you to take care of him.. I'm sure his owner will appreciate it. I'm sure they are looking for him.. there are many avenues to go through when losing a dog... you may not be seeing there posters or posts. None of my dogs are chipped or wear collars. He could have as others said just slipped out or the owners could be on vacation and has someone watching him.. tons of scenarios to consider. I hope you will continue to take care of him while you search for his owners.
