Has the OP been back on here at all? Without going back through all the posts, I don't recall him/her coming back on her for any kind of update... or did I miss it? |

I thought the OP said she was in L.A??? Los Gatos is no where near LA. They are at minimum, an 8 hour drive and probably further depending on where in LA she is. Just wondering, I may be confused but I thought I read that. |

wondering Any updates????? Was the owner found???? |
Her zip code shows HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA. I don't know if it helps as far as the distance. Are you fairly close to her? We have all been following this thread and we hope you find him. Hopefully she'll log on soon. Carol and Jemma |
I spoke with Nick yesterday and the little guy I found is not his yorkie. I followed up on all of the craigslist postings and none of them are a match. I know it may seem hard to believe, but I really don't think his owners are looking for him. Like I mentioned earlier, the procedure for finding a lost dog in los angeles county is pretty straight forward. I'm still checking CL everyday to see if someone posts anything for him. I am also looking out for posters in the neighborhood where I found him. He is adjusting nicely. He is not nearly as depressed as he was when I found him. He is eating and going to the bathroom regularly. As much as I like the little guy, I was not planning on a dog. I am very unsure of myself as a dog owner, which is the reason that I never bought a yorkie for myself. I understand and respect all of the time and attention it takes to raise a pup in a good and healthy environment. I am so afraid to make things worse for him. I'm not sure at what point I am supposed to give up looking for his owner. I'm trying to do the right thing, but I just don't think his owners are looking for him. Once again, thank you for the kind words. PS - for some reason, my posts take a very long time to be posted, but rest assured that I intend to update you caring people as much as possible. |

I found my little yorkie on the side of the road near my home and searched for 2 weeks before adopting her as my own. She is a doll and I really don't know what I would do without her. Sometimes these little angels have a way of finding us or at least coming into our lives so that we may help them find the best home for them. If you are unsure about becoming a dog owner just yet, you could always look towards here for help finding a home for him or maybe the nearest yorkie rescue group. Good luck! :aimeeyork |

I think you are doing all the right things. I wouldn't give up finding his owners, but at the same time I agree that you truly need to becareful about who you give him to. You should ask them for proof of his name and ask for photos. I also think that if you are becoming attached and are up for being owned by a Yorkie, than you should also start to prepare for that fact as well. I think after a reasonable amount of time and no one claims him, you should get him UTD on his shots, neuter him and clean teeth! You are his ONLY guardian right now, and you sound like a wonderful foster parent. Wishing you the best :) |
OP, If your not sure about keeping the dog, please give Nick the oportunity, to have him. There will be an empty place in the family without a dog and they might be very happy to adopt him. He could absorb some of the expenses you have incurred. Just a thought. Have you tried calling him by the name Nick calles him, like if he isn't looking at you call the name and see what his response is.. Just a thought. Good Luck and God Bless.... |
To the OP, I think your first couple posts on the board have to pass moderation, that may be why they are taking a long time to post. I think you may still want to put up "Found" posters, and/or post "Found" ads on the web. You can leave off some key detail; maybe say that you'll require a description of his collar for anyone who calls, but it's a trick question, because he didn't HAVE a collar. Or just say you'll need a description of what he was wearing. Something like that. Beyond that, I think maybe this guy was meant to find you. I very much hope Nick is re-united with his own dog. Thank you for keeping us posted AND for taking such good care of the dog. :) |
I was so hoping to get on here today and read that this was Nicks Yorkie and that they were re-united. Im so sorry Nick that this little one was not yours but know that many of us here know the pain you are going through and we all will keep our eyes open for your little one. never give up hope. Renovated Girl this Yorkie might just be still sad and missing his owners and then again there's many Yorkies that don't play. talk to your vet about it and see what he thinks, watch him give him lots of love and you'll soon know if this is his normal ways. I would also never give up in finding his owners. you do what you can with flyers and calling the vets and rescues around you and see if anyone's lost this baby. just like you have been doing, then once it all settles down and no one has claimed him you can consider him yours. ( but always know so day some one might claim him) But you also have to be careful like everyone said. many will say hes theirs and he may not be. ask them for proof. vet records. any different markings he mights have. pictures. ask his name see if he knows it. Good luck with this little one. |
Maybe try looking outside the area you found him at. Dogs have been known to travel some distances to find there homes or owners. |
What a great person you are for rescuing this little boy. Thanks for keeping us updated. I had to stop reading those "missing" ads that some had posted. I was almost in tears. I cannot fathom how sad it must be to lose your dog, Yorkie or otherwise. It makes me want to go home and kiss mine right now! |
I was hoping this was Nicks yorkie too. To the OP, I think you are doing an amazing job looking for who the owners are. Your taking great care of this sad, scared little boy , and he is starting to come around. Poor little guy may have had it pretty rough. Things happen for a reason. this little dog has come into your life for a purpose. Sadly, he may have been dropped off or abandonded. :( My thoughts and prayers are with the little Yorkie. Renovatedgirl, thank you for rescuing him. |
Renovatedgirl, I think since Lucy was still a puppy, @ 3 1/2 months old, she adapted pretty soon. Probably about 3 weeks and she was adjusted well. It was very hard to keep my bearings and not become too attatched, too soon. They are lovely little ones; whether they are bouncy, clingy or just scared. Once I started loving on her, after I gave up finding owner, she came around and loved me back even more. If you decide to adopt him, just be patient and love him but give him a little room to adjust also. It just might take him a bit to trust and to expressively love back. Whatever his story is, you can be assured that right now, you are the center of his little frightened world. ;) |
