I just got my yorkie!! Hi, I just got my little Roxy friday!! Im super excited! She has kept me on my toes with the amount of energy she has! I took her to the vet on Saturday and I wasn't that pleased. Maybe Im making something big out of something little. The vet asked what food I was feeding her and I told her the breeder had her on Eukanuba petite bits and that I started mixing in some Wellness because I want to have her on that instead. Well she goes on to tell me that Eukanuba is a better brand and that they actually test that the stuff that goes in there actually does. In my head Im like, yeah on dogs!! and the stuff thats in there I dont want to feed her! She then tells me that Science Diet is a great brand and I turn around and gee, she is selling Science Diet in her office. I asked her for a pet insurance recommendation and she tells me that I cant find anything that covers over 60%. Well I was looking before I went to her office and I believe that Healthy Bark and Purr covers 80% after a $100 deductible. It just seemed like she wasn't very well informed.... Am I over reacting???

You are like all of us yorkie parents...Paranoid. I cannot tell you how paranoid I was when I first got Tinker, but they are hardy dogs and can handle anything. On the other hand, they are our babies and nothing is to good for them. If you do not feel comfortable with the advice the vet gave you try another vet. I was lucky and found a great vet my first try, but I would definitely try different vets until I found one I trusted. Even if this vet is not any better than another, but you feel more comfortable it will make a world of difference when your lil' one is sick. My vet carries science diet as well. I have never seen a vet that carries Eukanuba. I would suggest using ID. You can get it in soft or hard, but it is the best thing I have used so far. I have heard great things about it, and my lil' one loves it(she was very sick when she was on Eukanuba. I put info. about that on Health and Diet section). Follow your gut, and never be too careful. If something doesn't feel right you have every right to get a second opinion.=)

I would pass on both SD and Eukanuba. I don't really most trust vets on dog foods. Wellness is the better choice IMO. SD as far as I am concerned is no better than most of the grocery store shelf foods. Except for the price of course. I use natural balance dry and rolls. Mine love it, and its now carried in Petco so I find it easily.
