| make sure when you teach stay you don't tell them to stay then "good come!". You must tell them sit, stay (hold your hand in front of you with palm toward them) back away slowly. Start with just a step back. Then WALK BACK TO THEM then reward. Don't say stay then call them to you, they will think that means stay for a bit then come running. Increase your distance from them until they know what stay means. Then when they've got that tell them stay and turn your back to them and then practice that. Soon you will be able to walk far away and they will not move till you come back and release them.

| No, genius is when after you teach her to sit, she comes to you, smacks your leg to get you to look at her, (which she will wait for you to do) then as soon as she sees you looking at her, she promptly sits and waits for her treat!

| Hi, Sorry I don't mean to steal your thunder but I bought Mika at 8wks which in Britain seems to be the age pups are sold. Mika was 9wks and he could sit and lay down on command. I find Yorkies to be very intelligent.

| Chuck learned how to sit in 2 days... But when he was 9 weeks old, he learned to give paw in 15 minutes! I remember how excited I was that day, I wanted to cry And Chuck was looking at me like "what's the big deal lady?!"
