YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Meg sleeps in bed with us at night, and the only time she has ever fallen off the bed was when she was playing "evade the sock" with my husband. She scooted her butt a little off the bed and slid down the comforter onto the floor. (Comforter was hanging low since we hadn't made the bed yet.) Anyway, she was fine. She has never fallen off the bed in the dark. (Knock on wood!)

| ![]() Piper sleeps in our bed under the covers at my feet. Sometimes she comes up under the covers and lays by my neck but she usually doesn't stay there very long before she is scooting back under the covers. She doesn't jump on and off furniture so I never worry about her jumping off the bed. Since she usually under the blanket I don't worry about her falling off the bed.

| ![]() Jet (4 month old) has a crate in our bedroom that he had been sleeping in, until my husband caved ![]() He has been sleeping with us for about two weeks now and likes to sleep on one of our chests (probably whoever sleeps on their back the most), or curled up in the small of our back. He lets us know when if he needs to go out. Now I can't imagine sleeping without him ![]()

| ![]() All 3 of ours sleep with us. Two of them are 4lbs. and one is 2lbs. They have their favorite place to sleep. Two of them in the middle and one in the headboard. I have a ramp and if they need to use potty during the night they use the pee pad. We love the sleeping with us ![]()

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() They all sleep in our bed....everyone of them except for the little puppies....then when the puppies go to their new owners if one of them is alone they get to spend a nite in bed with us.....pre-spoiled they go. |

| ![]() Yes, the Crew sleeps between us in the Valley of the Giants. If we don't let them up (by setting up the doggie stairs) they will let us know about it - loudly. We have a new bed, and these are high. You have to get the doggy staircases or at least a big stool with one of these. One of our friends had a Yorkie that had to be put to sleep because it fell out of bed and broke its back, so there certainly is a risk. How do you mitigate this hazard? Like other posters have noted - MAKE SURE the Yorkies are sleeping in the middle. Also, we bought a giant dog bed (its giant for Yorkies, that is, it’s just a normal big dog bed with lots of cushion). We move this big bed each night from their look out post at the top of the stairs to right next to the bed on the side they would be most likely to fall from if they were to sneak away from the valley. Can little dogs get smothered like babies with SIDS? I don't know. I do know that we have had Yorkie(s) sleeping between us for many years without incident. If you start this habit, its hard to stop! Also, it can be detrimental to getting a good night’s sleep, even though overall I like it a lot. What I mean is they are HOT, and in the summer I really don’t want them curled up next to me, but they sometimes have other ideas. Also, you should be constantly mindful of their location, and you have to be careful when you flip, hard for guys who move around in their sleep (more than women, so I have read). Other advantages? Ours lick us in the face when they have to pee ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by shawnzeppi; 05-21-2009 at 05:00 PM. |

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | ![]() I have a queen sized bed in my room with both the head of the bed and one side against the wall. I have three Yorkies ages 8 months, 1 yr 2 months, and 2 yrs 6 months AND my 40 lb English Cocker Spaniel all sleeping in my bed. I have them alll on the wall side and I get maybe 1/3 of the bed. My middle Yorkie, Max, is fragile (he only weighs 2 lp 9 oz) so I keep him up near the top of the bed. The only one that fell out of bed at night was the English Cocker Spaniel and she looked at me like I was the one who pushed her out of bed! ![]() |

| ![]() My 17 year old baby has slept with me all of her life and has never jumped down but last year I turned my back on her and she fell out of bed (My bed it pretty high) and she blew out her knee. She is in kidney failure so they couldn't do surgery - but she recovered ![]() |

| ![]() Bailey's slept with me 2-3 times. She's never fallen or been rolled onto. She has jumped off a couple times (she's only 4 months and about 2.5 pounds) when she saw the cat. So when I do let her sleep with me I have to lock the cat out of the room. The reason she's only slept with me a few times is just that the cat usually sleeps with me, so I don't want to exclude the cat from ever getting to spend time with me. Otherwise Bailey would be with me every night. ![]()

| ![]() George has been sleeping with us since 2 weeks ago, now that he is pee pad trained and uses a foot stool to hop onto the bed we have nice cosy nights, but he is a bit of a fidget, he's either on the end of the bed or on my shoulder or snuggled under the blankets in between us but he must shift positions at least 10 times during the night and then when we get up he stays in bed until 5 minutes before we go to work when I get him up for the toilet, then into his car seat a short ride to work and back into his work bed till at least 9.30am a real sleepy head.

| ![]() Jackson has slept with me since he was... hmm... I want to say around 18 weeks old? He's a bigger boy though and is now 7 months old and nearly 14lbs and constantly jumps on and off furniture so he's fine. He generally stays in bed with me all night though and only gets down if he wants to sleep under my bed for a bit.

| ![]() Bluebelle sleeps with us, she lays at the bottom of the bed watching TV until we turn it off, then somehow in the night she mooches round and gets between us or on DH side. She never falls off and I'm not worried about accidents, she thinks its her bad, so that's unlikely. Best thing is hearing her dream - super funny! |
