The more training tricks you learn the better prepared & more relaxed you will be while working with them. No one method or book has all the answers. What works for one of your dogs may not work with the other so you need lots of ideas to pull from. Even though each source will differ a little on command words/signals, make your own list & definitions for each to help keep you from confusing the dogs. Try not to teach too much at once.

Thanks! Im only a little concerned because they are soooo small. Dont mean to sound so tense, I just want to protect my babies and Im getting such great suggetions I feel better about it all. I can handle them both on a walk but I think that I will take their carrier in case they get too tired.

I have had pets before but not this small so Im cautious of everything with them.

By the way, it is very common for dogs to run off with little bits of their food. Thor does that and he's the only dog here. It's instinctive to take their cut and run off where they can eat it in peace. So Ace might have developed that behavior anyway.

Theres an idea....maybe thats what he is doing and not just because he is scared. IDK though, Ive seen what Zona (Arizona) does to him when they are at the bowl.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but one thing I would advise is to separate their food bowls and teach each one which bowl is for who. Put the bowls at different ends of the kitchen or whereever you feed them and stay with them when they eat. When they are done, pick up the bowls and do the same at the next feeding.

I have four who are all trained to use their own bowls, and never have a problem with food aggression.
