| ![]() Wow! I got lucky then by only paying $500 for Manide! The breeder wanted $800, but we talked him down on her!!!! She is worth every penny though..

I completely agree. I just posted that site to show some of the outrageous prices people are trying to sell these puppies for. Where this is located is in a little corner building in a shopping center. Definately not where I would buy my dog from....

YT Addict | ![]() I paid $2000 for Ace, but I was look for a stud with Big time Champions in his bloodline. His mom was a champion, and their is over 60 champions in their pedigrees. So I was not just paying for a puppy but breeding rights, and the pedigree. But if you are planning to breeding get the best you can don't breed outside of the standard. (& breed for health) So it is up to what you are looking at, if it is not from show lines, run the price is to high. For just a pet $800-$1000 is about what a female goes for around here, and that is limited. They maybe ask that much because size, but that would still be to high, if you are not getting breeding rights, and not from show lines. (AKC) |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I think some of you are forgetting that you're paying for the breeder's experience. While it's true that buying from a pet store is about the worst deal you can get because you are buying a $300.00 puppy for $1,500 and more; buying from a reputable breeder, especially a YTCA member, will be expensive. They use a much higher quality dog to breed with than your average breeder. If having a yorkie that meets or is close to standard is important to you, finding an experienced breeder is important. Breeding can be an expensive hobby when you do it right, health screening and showing are expensive. It kills me that some people see no problem paying $1500 from a byb, but mope at paying $2,000 to a breeder who is a YTCA member. I think if you can afford it, you should reward the best breeder you can find, and try not to compare apples to oranges, just avoid those lemons if possible! ![]() I might add, I don't think $2000, is unreasonable for a dog that has no breeding rights, it just depends on the mommy, daddy, and breeder.

| ![]() This is way too high. I just purchased a yorkie in Ocala for 750. He was (somewhat) trained, healthy, had all his shots, and was nueterd. If you want to look up the breeder google 'Ocala russell yorkie'. The breeders were wonderful.

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() I personally wouldnt pay 2000 for any kind of dog. I paid 300.OO for a AKC registered black Lab pup that had field champion lines on both sides of her pedigree, she came from someone who was a hobby breeder and had one litter a year. I live in area where paying that much for a dog would probably deem you crazy..lol.. I dont think people in my area would even consider trying to sell a dog for that price. Yorkies in my area generally sell for 500.00 dollars. As far as paying 950.00 for a spay, that is just nuts!! How can a vet charge that much and be ok with it. I paid.. 180.00 total for Tuckers surgery and that included.. his pre-op bloodwor/exam, the rest of the shots he needed, inguenial hernia repair, his nueter and a tube of advantage cause they found a flea. He didnt have any teeth pulled cause he was only 4 months old. I complain about living in the boonies but after seeing some of the prices that people charge for stuff Im happy I do!! ![]()

| ![]() You get what you pay for is what I always say! You need to do your homework before you buy. We get 800-900 for pet Q. females. Show Q. that about right, for just size, that nuts. |

I think a lot of the general public think that the more expensive the dog, the better deal they are getting with a healthy pup and all but that's not really the case. They also have tons of pups at the local shelter I volunteer at that come in and they are all $150-$200 per dog and they come with updated shots and fixed. Also, when I got Jackson neutered, it was only $175 for his neuter, 4 baby teeth pulled, pain meds for 5 days, pre-op bloodwork AND a 4 month supply of heartworm medicine! Just because it was "cheap" didn't mean he wasn't being taken care of, or given the SAME exact treatment he would have received if I had paid $500 for all of that.
