They use a much higher quality dog to breed with than your average breeder. If having a yorkie that meets or is close to standard is important to you, finding an experienced breeder is important. Breeding can be an expensive hobby when you do it right, health screening and showing are expensive. It kills me that some people see no problem paying $1500 from a byb, but mope at paying $2,000 to a breeder who is a YTCA member. I think if you can afford it, you should reward the best breeder you can find, and try not to compare apples to oranges, just avoid those lemons if possible!
I might add, I don't think $2000, is unreasonable for a dog that has no breeding rights, it just depends on the mommy, daddy, and breeder. | Yah - what she said !!!!
