| ![]() About an hour ago, Maddie was at the back door barking like crazy...an insistent bark that she wanted outside pronto. I told her she must have to go potty really bad and let her and Libby out. They both took off at top speed running around the yard as if hunting for something. All of a sudden I saw something move in the neighbors yard. It was a huge golden cat...it had a small head and very large body. It did not look at all like an ordinary cat to me and made me scared. Maddie and Libby had run to the fence and were barking at it and it just stood there looking at them. I turned around to yell into the house for my hubby to come, and when I turned around, the cat was gone. I quickly got Maddie and Libby inside. I've been searching the net for one that looks like what I saw and I wonder if it was a bobcat. I just don't know, but that did not look like a domesticated cat. I will be taking Maddie and Libby out on a leash for the time being because he could be watching for them. It just makes me feel very uneasy.

| ![]() I've never seen a bobcat before but i'm glad your being careful. Make sure you look around the yard before letting them out in the daylight, you never know. I have a friend who lives in Arizona, their cats are used to going outside but they never leave them out at night because of this. She was telling me a story about how her father let their cat in on night and just as he shut the glass slidder door a bobcat slammed head first into it. They were very fortunate.

| ![]() OMG Connie..how scary is that! Was this cat as big as a bobcat? I don't know about Bobcat's but where my sister lives in Eastern Canada out in the country they have had problems with cougars from time to time. Please take your girls out on a leash until you are certain this cat is gone. Hugs, to you and your girls. |

| ![]() I live in a very urban area, just a few miles north of Dallas, TX. I've seen bobcats around here several times. I've personally seen them the size color that you described. I've also seen them be as large as a medium size dog with more of a tan'ish color with gray'ish spots on the coat. ![]() They are quite adaptable to urban life as in the wild & are generally nocturnal. This is the time of year when they are raising their babies, so hunting for extra food would be the order of business. I don't think they'd hesitate for a moment to view your babies as an easy meal. Please be careful.

| ![]() We had a barbque one year and my aunt went to get in her car and there was a bobcat in her back seat eating some leftover chicken. scared the hair off of all of us since they aren't seen often anywhere near here. It'll stay where the food is till it's gone and move on unless there's easy pickin's in your neighborhood. |

| ![]() That is so scary. I would always check the yard before they go out, or make sure you go with them. If this animal happens to be rabid [you never know] they can become very bold. I have a problem here with hawks. I have a huge back yard, but I always keep my dog on her leash. ![]()

| ![]() Oh my gosh, that would have scared me to death. We had someone's fighting rooster get over in our backyard and I almost had a heartattck. They are against the law and where it came from who knows. Tina was outside and she is about the size of Kayla and I could just see this thing putting her little eyes out. Fortunately she stayed way back from it and it flew over the fence. Keep an eye out for that cat because this rooster has been back 2 or 3 times. |

| ![]() Bobcats and Ocelots are usually clearly spotted but you might want to google a North American wild cat called Jaguarundi. They have large bodies and smallish heads plus they can be a golden color. I don't know how far north they travel but it sure sounds like one. ![]()
