| All most lost my baby today Today was one of the most busiest days I had in a long time around my house. I've have been working on my house all morning. First the painters came to finished the last of the painting. Then a friend of my came over to hang up blinds on ten windows as well as the guy who cuts my grass. Well as you can imagine, there were people running in and out of the house. When the painters left for the day, they decided to go through the garage to throw some paint cans away and they left through the garage door. I told them don't worry about the door I will close it because I still had some stuff to throw away. While I was in the garage, Brandi must of slipped out the door leading to the garage and ran right out of the garage. Of course I didn't noticed this until about 15-20 minutes after I got back inside. She didn't wander very far....thank God. When I noticed Brandi wasn't laying on the couch downstairs, I search the whole house looking for her. She usually comes when I call her name but this time she didn't. Then I noticed the door leading to the garage was cracked and the garage door was still open . I panicked and took off outside yelling for her. Fortunately there was a yard sale a few doors down from me and my neighbhors know my dog. They were trying to catch her for me. Boy was I scared because although my particular street has very little traffic it was more today than usual because of the garage sale. As soon as she it was me calling her name she came running full speed. I picked her up and hugged her so hard I thought she was going to pop. Then immediately after, I started scolding her. Usually Brandi follows me around the house like a shadow and the hold time the painters were there, she never left my side. I guess this time curiosity got the best of her and she just had to go do a little exploring on her own. Last edited by yavenay; 05-09-2009 at 11:50 AM. |

| It happens to everyone at some time. These boogers are slippery. Glad she was safe and sound.

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | Im so glad she is safe. This is another reason why crate training is a good thing. When we had workmen in I just popped Tia in her crate and I knew she was safe.

| That must have been very scary. So glad she did not wander off too far. Why do they do this to us???? I constantly find myself doing a head count and I only have 3. If I can't see them I'm calling for them. They make us nuts.

| So glad you found Brandi safe and sound! Something similar happened with Olivia a few weeks ago - it is enough to get the blood racing, that is for sure! I'm glad your story had a happy ending.

| Now you know how quick they can disappear if any doors are left open.. it is a worry but just ensure that the little one has no way of getting away if possible.. it can be a challange at times for sure.. and scary to.. Glad she did not get far... anne |

YT 1000 Club Member | I'm glad you found your baby and all is ok. I have this terrible fear of losing Roxie and I guess I never take my eyes off of her for very long. I don't even know I'm doing it. We were outside doing yard work a few weeks ago and my sister was here helping. She made the comment to me that she noticed I don't take my eyes off her for long (meaning that I'm in constant look around to make sure she's close mode). I do it in a quiet way but my sister noticed it. She also made the comment that Roxie doesn't leave my side for long either. Even as she's venturing off someplace in the yard she keeps looking through the corner of her eye to see if I'm watching her or she's watching me lol! It puts the fear into you once they've gotten out of your site just one time.

| The little stinker...fortunately I live on a dead end street but am surrounded by woods that have kinds of little critters. That was my biggest fear that she had wandered off into the woods. |
