I saw a picture of a yorkie puppy in a cute little sweater about 4 years ago and at that moment I decided I wanted one and her name must be Riley. At that point in time I wasn't really allowed to have animals and if I was it definitely wasn't being paid for. As time went on I met my wonderful fiance. We got a few animals, but I kept telling him my home was not complete without this yorkie I've wanted for such a long time. Anyways, Valentine's Day rolls around and my finace takes me to a breeder and lets me pick out my little Riley. It was the best present ever. It might have been Valentines Day, but it was better than Christmas. :D |
Ive always wanted a small cute dog since I was younger. I like the size and color of a yorkie and since i was 13 ive wanted a dog. My mom would never let me get a dog so for my 20th bday i got my first puppy. I got him from a breeder in TN. Didnt know much about breeders at the time, but i am happy with my doggie and wouldnt trade him for anything in the world. |
I have always thought they were soo cute. Way back when I didnt know what breed they were, but as babies they were really cute. I then learned that they were yorkies and I saw them as adults, and guess what? They stay cute..lol Back in Oct. I lost my father and my mother passed 5 years ago. My family and I live in Japan and I felt very isolated from the rest of my family and was very depressed. So, I thought a puppy would make me feel so much better. I told my husband, lets go look at puppies, he wasnt thrilled but went anyways. And there she was...I held her and begged my husband for her, but he didnt want to pay so much for a dog. A week later I went back and she was still there so I bought her. She has been an angel ever since. She has brought me so much joy, and she has my husband wrapped around her little paw too:) Just wanted to add....I got her from a pet store..I know I know I know...I didnt know they were bad until this forum, but living in Japan, I wouldnt even know where to start to find a breeder anyways. |
I didn't know much about yorkies specifically before I got Thor. He belonged to a coworker of mine, and we have a dog-friendly office, so she always brought him in. I didn't pay him much attention at first. He was just this annoying little dog who would occasionally stop by my office to beg for food or poop on the floor. Then one day I thought it would be fun to train him to Sit. Well, after I fed him, he decided I was his best buddy ever. Every time I came into the office, he would come rushing over to get a walk or a pet, or just a little one on one time. Eventually he pooped in the wrong person's office, and he had to be put on a leash or be banned from the building. After that, every time I walked in, I would hear him crying his little doggie heart out to be allowed to come say hi. Once one of these animals decides to love you, you have no choice but to love them back. :D |
As a little girl ,I remember looking through my grandparents set of encylopedias at the different dog breeds and the yorkie was my favorite. After my father passed of lung cancer I quit smoking and on my 3rd month of being smoke free my hubby surprised me with a yorkie........ |
How Mia came to us... Oh boy.....How Mia came about. We own an apartment. Our new tenants moved in with this little dog Diggy. She was a 6 month old yorkie. She would come over quite often and play with our (much bigger) dog Ozzy. My kids and I started getting attached. Then Diggy would come over and have sleep overs, I would bathe her, feed her and basically do everything her family should have been doing all along. She became my new found friend. My daughter (mind you was only 4) completely fell in love. Until the bleak morning in December. Diggy got out of the apartment one evening. They chose not to go looking for her. (If I would have known I would have gone looking for her, in which I did numerous times.) On my way to take my kids to school the next morning my daughter saw Diggy's Little pink collar on the side of the road. (yes she was still attached) She was hit by a car not even 50 feet from our house. We were devastated. I was devastated. She is now at rest in our back yard. :( On a lighter note..... My husband made it his mission to find me a Diggy. We looked and looked. We found a puppy. We were in the process of going to go pick her up. Then the broker emails me and tells me he sold her. We had already named her Lilly Rose. But.... He had another female for me.... We drove 2 hours on a Sunday to go get her. When I got to the house he told me all of the puppies were stolen. Once again.... devastation.....I cried all the way home. Then he emailed me... he had a male. I told him I couldn't have a male, we already have an "alfa" male. I didn't want any problems. So he said ok he had a female. We met halfway, hoping we weren't getting duped... again. Any ways.... That is how we ended up with Mia Rose. I don't know if anyone will read this. But it was nice to be able to put my experience down in type.... I love to read everyones stories and look at all of the pics...Mia is my little angel....:p |

I always wanted one, and there was an ad on the site for an only 150.00 with papers. It was the best investment I ever made. |

Wow...You really lucked out..$150.00? Although it's not the $. But these days it's hard. I had alot of trouble with the scams and the bartering. I just wanted a baby to love. But all in all, we are very happy...:aimeeyork |
I wanted a yorkie because my neighbor had one and she was so cool and sweet, but she was smaller then the one I got. Anyway yeah she was soooo cute and she wouldn't let you pick her up if she didn't like you and last but not least she was FIESTY and I liked that. I got mine from a breeder that had about 6 of them of her own. |
I have always liked big dogs. I never liked small dogs until my sister got a yorkie 1 1/2 years ago. My Giorgio is the most gentle, loving, docile, sweet-natured dog ever. My Chanel is fiesty, fun-loving, playful, and incredibly loving. Neither of them are aggressive at all, and play well with my 2 and 4 year olds. I adore them, and don't believe I will ever have any other type of dog. |

I didn't want another dog! When I lost my Pom of 13 years, it was like I lost a part of me, that was about 8 years ago. My mother in law had cancer and was going through chemo and radiation and happen to live in the same town as my sister in law (about 7 hours away). My sister in law's Yorkie was going to have puppies and I said, "We'll take a female". I now know why I said it. My mother in law held Bella the first 5 weeks of her life and would let Bella fall asleep on her chest, Mom knew Bella was going to us. When Bella was 7 weeks my mother in law was admitted into the hospital where she died 2 weeks later. Bella had a lot of meaning for several reasons. This tiny little Yorkie really helped my husband especially get through the death of his mom. Just knowing she held Bella, petted and even bought Bella a couple little blankets before she (Bella) was born, has so much meaning. I feel Bella is a little Angel. My DH held this little dog and cried! She (Bella) is special to us. BTW, we knew nothing about Yorkies, except they are cute, until I found this site. Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble and make this long. ~Lori |
