Honestly, I don't know. I was looking for a dog for about a year, or I knew I wanted one. I've had dogs all my life but they're been family dogs. I'm in college right now and I knew it was time to get my OWN dog to call mine. So, I went searching online looking at the different breeds. I'm not a big partier, I don't go out late night partying often like a lot of my friends and I needed a "companion!" I actually first looked at bulldogs but was like... ehh, I don't know. It didn't totally click and I kinda wanted something smaller. I also had to keep in my mind that my step-dad, whom I live with, is allergic so I looked into all the hypoallergenic breeds and got stuck on Yorkie for some reason. Boy, did I get a good companion! Jackson is definitely one of the best dogs I've ever had! He is sooo smart and learned all the tricks I taught him soo fast. I love his size, weighing in at 13lbs! He has a few quirks but he's still just a pup at 6 months old. 90% of the time he's really good and laidback and always has been for a puppy! I consider myself really lucky! |
I have always loved small dogs. Growing up, I had two shih-tzus (my parents still do :D) and I knew I wanted a dog for years! While I was going to school away from home, I was too busy, and my parents said that when I came home for the summer, they did not want another dog in the house... I've known I have wanted a yorkie for several years now, so I waited until after I got married and had a permanent place of my own, and surprised my hubby! I got Couver from a woman who was re-homing him. She got him from a breeder, so I honestly don't know if she was a byb. However, I did call the breeder to ask some questions, and she was very helpful...:) So on Feb 20th of this year I brought Couver home and have been in love ever since! |
My first dog is a Shih Tzu. When we (I) decided we were getting a second dog, I knew I wanted a Yorkie. I love the look, the size, the personality. I was going to get a Yorkie mix originally but then the more I read up on them, the more I wanted a purebred just for health reasons. I was afraid of getting a mixed breed with health problems. |
after my very terrible divorce, i met another guy who lived with me for a few years, after that was over i deceided i wanted something to love since children wasnt really happening. i always my whole life wanted children, just wasnt in the cards for me so i got the next best thing. and let me tell you, shes the best thing that ever happened to me.. life without my lexi is no life for me at all. she makes me want to wake up in the morning.. |
My 14 year old border collie was really poorly and we knew we were going to lose her soon so I knew I couldnt live without a dog in my life. I chose a yorkie because my sister has a cute one and this time I wanted a small dog that didnt molt.We got her from a breeder if you can call her that. To this day shes knocking out puppies every couple of months , so I have my doubts. :D |
My friend had breast cancer and knew she wouldn't come out of it . She asked me several times to take care of Mollie Jade . The night she died , her brother came to my home with a letter from my friend telling me that she was 1000 % sure that I would be the best person to take care of this adorable little one . |
We wanted a friend for our Lhasa, who is very playful and our older dachsund was just not in the mood to play so much, so I went to the pet store one day - a local one in town where the woman sells puppies for local breeders. I was looking for a girl, and a lhasa actually. They didn't have any, but they did have Rosie, who is a Yorkie/Lhasa mix. (Turns out she's tiny and does not look Lhasa at all, but she's a doll, so I don't care!) I have truly fallen in love with this little girl and would recommend a Yorkie to anyone - they have great personalities, adorable, loving, fun, too small to cause much trouble in any way, easy to take around because they're so small, will wear clothes (never thought I'd say that), etc. We adore our doggies and they know it. |
i've always had big breeds i still got a germenshepard 2 this day but i liked the look of a yorkie & i;m glad i got one . I also got a little chihuahua so small breeds 4 me fom now on |
Over the years of my life I've owned many dogs, almost all of them rescues. We visited a PetSmart one Saturday afternoon, they have adoptions here on Saturdays. The gal was a rescue and she had an adorable Yorkie puppy. I fell in love at first sight, but another lady had been there earlier and had expressed an interest, but had left. While I was holding her the lady returned and adopted this puppy right from under my nose. We went home that day with a Cocker Spaniel who we loved until the day we lost him to cancer. We began looking for another dog to love, who needed a family. I found Punkin on Craigslist and when we saw her we knew she needed us as much as we needed her. I can't emphasize enough...adopt, rescue, adopt....there are so many animals out there looking for homes where they can find loving families. |
I picked a yorkie after I fell in love with a picture that one of my former co-workers had of her "teacup" yorkie (i know there is no such thing now). I couldn't get a dog when I was younger but decided that when I got older and lived on my own that a yorkie was going to be living with me. Years later here I am living with my bf who isnt much of an animal person but I mentioned to him that I wanted a yorkie. Little did I know he actually listened and did some research on the breed and saw that they were good for apartment dwellers and are hypoallergenic. Then one day out of the blue he said that we should start looking for a yorkie puppy for me!:animal36 I love it when I get my way...I mean comprmise:p |
We have a chocolate lab that is a big fulumpa lump...doesn't like to cuddle just wants to romp and wrestle he weighs 90 lbs:eek:. He was a rescue from a dog shelter. My husband and I were shopping in a mall and they had a petland I decided "just to look" they had yorkie pups and I wanted one so bad but at the time money was tight. So August of last year there was a puppy mill raid in my town that rescued 953 dogs of various breeds. After the cleaned them up about a month later they allowed the public to come and apply for adoption. Wriddle Dog was in a crate all alone clear in the back away from everyone trying not to be noticed. But I fooled him I noticed him right away!!!!! His papers said he was 3 and needed dental.....who cares I WANT HIM NOW!!! On my application I put that I needed him as much as he needed me. I went away for 2 weeks to Georgia to help my sister with her 1 1/2 yr old daughter while she had colon surgery. On my way home I cried because I didn't want to leave them and about 3 hours (4 hours of bawling) from home the shelter called and asked if I was still interested in my Wriddle Dog! I went the very next day and adopted him! See I did need him more than he needed me! I LOVE him. He still has ALOT of issues but so do I and we both can live with them LOL. RESCUE RESCUE RESCUE....he saved me! |

I know how that is. I feel like Teddy was a special angel too. I had just moved in with my bf and like an hour away from my family so I was having a really hard time adjusting. To make it worse my bf was working nights so I was like always alone. So for my birthday he got Teddy for me and we are inseparable!! |
I wanted a yorkie since I was a little girl. I gave my best friend a toy yorkie for her birthday that had long flowing hair and an adorable face. I found that I used to play with it every time I went to her house. I knew I wanted a yorkie. Fast forward 20+ish give or take years after getting married, my husband and I knew we wanted a dog. He wanted a husky or something big and "manly" but after months I convinced him: small dog=small poop and that most of the small dogs on my list were non-shedding, which would be cleaner. I was obsessed with finding a yorkie for a number of months though I must admit, I didn't know very much about the breed. I almost got scammed by being too enthusiastic about an email that was too good to be true, but the photo's they sent me of the puppy i was interested in were clearly different dogs. Finally I found an ad in the San Jose Mercury for a local litter of puppies. My husband and I just went to "look" and we returned with Genghis. He has been the most lovey dog I've ever had. |
For 25 years I've suffered from mental illness'ss . Throughout this time I have worked , had a child who is on the autistic spectrum/has cognitive delays> raised him alone for close to 16 yrs. Nearly 6 ago things became dreadfully worse> Then 2 years ago I was offically deemed fully disabled . The Psych DR. reccomended a service dog to me, I had not had a dog before , however grew up with family dogs. I wanted a small dog , but, lived in a no pet zone, apartment community. With the disability's though I was granted premission . It was a rough choice for me to make! I had never seen a Yorkie before! In real life. It was a toss up between a Shih Tzu or Yorkie at the end .I saw a Shih Tzu when a lady was at the gas station with her dog, and the dog was so cute and sweet. I just loved the dog. I thought the Shih Tzu is adorable . But the Yorkie, Every picture, and all the things I kept reading about them , I kept coming back to this breed. I was lured to them. I could not stop myself . I was hooked from the moment I led eyes on them. Before I ever saw A yorkie for real> I loved how they looked. So I read about them. I got my Puppy from a breeder. The day I was determined to bring home a baby was the day before mother's day. It will be a year , exactly on this Saturday :) . |
From Frenchie to Yorkie I always wanted a Shiba Inu. I went to a couple breeders. They all emphasized that they are a high spirited, independent breed... and that they'd need some space to roam. I had such a high respect for this dog that I decided not to get one because I didn't think that I would be able to give it what it needed because I live in an apartment. So I looked for breeds that do well in apartments instead. I narrowed it down to French Bulldog and Yorkshire Terrier. I couldn't find any Frenchies in my area (they're so adorable) so I got a Yorkie. After I realized I couldn't get my dream breed (Shiba) breed didn't really matter... it was temperment and Harley is the best Yorkie I could have. |
