| Puppy tongue question??? I'm sure there is a term for this but I don't know it so I'll have to describe it...I've been puppy searching for awhile now. I've seen a few Yorkie pups with their tongues hanging out their mouths a little and it seems they always have it out. Is that permanant? Don't get me wrong...I think it is so cute but what exactly causes that? Will they be just as healthy? Curious

| hmm i'm interested to hear what people say. toby is almost 11 weeks and since the day i brought him home his tongue hangs out. not always, but sometimes... at first i thought it was b/c he didn't have teeth to hold it in (LOL) but now he's gotten most of them so i dont know... |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i've seen yorkies like this too and i think its because their mouths are too small for their tongues and they can't help it. i usually only see it on the super small ones.

| I have five and out of the five I have only two did the tongue and only one still does it and she's five years old. I personally love it. I think it's adorable. Most Yorkie pups will do the tongue and some will continue as an adult but not all. Bella by the way is now five years old and she's the only one out of my bunch that still does it. My male Yorkie that we lost to cancer also did it up until his death, but mostly when he was intent on things like a cookie etc. LOL. Elaine |

| I think also that it doesn't really have to due with their health. I had a siamese cat who always used to have his tongue out lol. it was the cutest thing lol. I also think its cause the tongue is too big for their small little mouth. =D. best of wishes finding a baby

| Laya sticks her tongue out a little at times. She has always done this on occasion. She has a slight under bite so maybe that has something to do with it. She has a really long tongue also. Not sure if that has something to do with it too.

| My little sweetie Lola is 11 weeks old and her tongue sticks out of her mouth alot. The vet said it was most likely because her front teeth have barely come in..but they're almost completely in now, and she is still doing it. Her teeth alignment is perfect-no overbite/underbite. Vet says shes in perfect health. Hope its just her having a long tongue |

| My first Yorkie did this. He would also stick out his little tongue just a little bit right before he was going to be a little naughty. He was little imp. I think they do have a sense of humor. |

| My pup so far never does it. He seems little 2.5 lbs and he has an under bite. The only time I see his tongue though is when it's coming out to try and get a quick kiss! |

| Too Cute! When I was searching for my first Yorkie Artie, I had a certain idea in my head what a Yorkie should look and act like? I saw a few pictures w/their Tongue sticking out not hanging and drooling like a Boxer, but too cute like a real Yorkie? He is the only one out of my 3 Yorkies that does it? Abigail w/do it occasionally while she is sleeping. I think in a way I "Trained" him to do it more b/c every time he did it I gave him special praise. It is a special "Trait" that Yorkies have the way they hold it so to speak. Just like dark Eye rims around their Eyes that make them look like they have "Eye Liner" on. From what I see from my other Yorkie Friends, only the Males do it? It is perfectly Natural and it has nothing to do w/being "Healthy" that's just how they hold it. Yorkies are like "Peacocks" the males are more Beautiful than the Females and I have 2, so I'm speaking from my experience. I always get more "Compliments" on him than I do my 2 girls! I Love it and I think it looks too cute!

| Mandie has always stuck her tounge out, since the day we got her!! Its too cute! I swear her tounge is way to big for her little mouth. Sometimes its just a little out like the first pic, or way out like the other one. But I can't complain I like it!!!
