|  Dogs and Frogs Last night London encountered her first frog. We were on a walk, and a 3-inch frog was on the sidewalk. She stopped and circled the frog, then slowly approached it. Her little nose ended up touching the frog. It was dark but I think she licked it!(And then she licked my mouth this morning -- ewww!) Unfortunately froggy did not turn into a prince. How do your Yorkies react around frogs? Any good stories? |

| Just be very careful about letting London get too close and lick as you may not know whether it is a frog or toad. Depending on where you live, there are some that can make our babies really sick because they are so small. Our toad story from when Sissy was a year old ~ we get tons of toads in our yard in early summer. From teeny tiny ones to really big ones. One early evening she went outside to potty and there was a medium-sized toad on the driveway which Sissy decided looked yummy. She put the entire toad in her little mouth!! Well, the toad proceeded to excrete into her mouth  (this is their protection factor and although some toads have poisonous secretions, this was not one of them - thank God). Even if not poisonous, according the vet it is vile tasting. Well Sissy immediately starts foaming at the mouth and jerking backwards, shaking her head from side to side to get the icky stuff out of her mouth. Needless to say, she opened her mouth and the toad hopped away. A little while later, Sissy started vomiting (a result of the vile tasting secretions) and we ended up with a vet visit for sub Q fluids and a check-up. Thankfully, she has never touched a toad again!!!!!!!!

| I agree with Jodi 100% that you have to be very careful with frogs and toads..... With that said, there are many "Resident Frog Hunters" here at YT. Here are a few pics of Chattie after a "frog hunt". She found the poor squished flat and dehydrated froggie on our driveway. This was her most treasured possession for the length of time that it took for me to snap a few pics and then I took it away from her. I know, MEAN MOMMY! | My Cleo has not encountered one yet, but my big dogs love to try and catch them. The problem is, we have Bufo (sp?) toads down here, which are very poisonous. A friend of mine's french bulldog was killed by one a few years ago. Just the tiniest secretion touching a small dogs nose can be very serious. They were brought here to help with the sugarcane crops and they have no preditors, so they are multiplying! Soon she will only be allowed to potty on a leash sp she doesnt get too curious!

| Oh my boys are totally little frog hunters! When Dexter was like 7 months old and only about 4lbs he saw a green leaper frog, a little one. Well he went after it, all was good and kind of funny... until he just killed it... one snip and boom, it was gone!  I was horrified that my sweetie cutie little man could KILL anything. LOL Last summer my Dex did lick a toad and ended up foaming at the mouth... I just snatched him up and rinsed his mouth out for a good 3 mins and he was fine, I kept an eye on him and he didnt throw up or anything and it was not a poisonous toad or anything, I'm sure he'd do it again though! LOL Lastly, here is what happens when a frog dares to try to take a swim at my house!
