| Lily starting to growl! I bought Lily her first rawhide bone today. If we go near her and try to take it away she growls. How can we stop this now? She just turned 10 month.

| I watch "its me or the dog" and Ive seen Victoria use this trick on dogs: take a that they really like and say trade along with treating her. Switch this back and forth with the rawhide always treating when she releases and doesn't growl. You have to practice this on a daily basis but it should work. I have tried many of her methods and had lots of success. I even have her book. I love her.

| ^ Good advice. However, on a side note, rawhides are NOT good for dogs, especially little Yorkies. They get lodged in their throats and stuck in their intestines. They're not really digestible. And when they get all soggy and gross, it's easy to choke on them. I had a scare with Jackson when he was around 4 months old where he began choking on one and ever since, I haven't allowed them. There's been LOTS of stories on here negative things about rawhides. Have you tried bully sticks?

| No, I did not know they were bad, thats scary. I seen people talking about the bully sticks. Only thing is Lily likes to only carry things that are long and skinny instead of eating it lol.

Go to www.westbrookdog.com and you will see some. I didn't know it either until my experience with the rawhides and then reading on this site! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/fun...light=rawhides

| I agree. Rawhides are very dangerous: Danger Rawhide As far as Lily's growling, at ten months she is probably starting to feel pretty full of herself. I'd suggest the Nothing in Life is Free Program: Nothing in Life is Free Nothing in Life is Free Gaining control of your dog humanely |

| Great info !!! Bully sticks (Made in USA ONLY !!!!!!) are what we give our puppies, they love 'em. It keeps them busy. It really does work to "trade" your dog one thing for something else, as opposed to just taking something away !!! Makes sense. Our pups growl but have never displayed any food aggression whatsoever. Work with yours as it is very important for them to understand that YOU are the one who controls food/treats. |

| I agree...not safe. When Jojo was three he almost died. I had to massage the small raw hide bone out of his throat it was very scary. We had no issues before that and up to that point he had one every day when I went into my home office to work. Never again....find something else. Good luck |
