I watch "its me or the dog" and Ive seen Victoria use this trick on dogs: take a that they really like and say trade along with treating her. Switch this back and forth with the rawhide always treating when she releases and doesn't growl. You have to practice this on a daily basis but it should work. I have tried many of her methods and had lots of success. I even have her book. I love her.
