| Yorkie Foster Mom Hi Yorkie Moms & Dads, I need some advice. I'm an experienced foster mom with a local shelter. Have a delightful Yorkie bitch with six pups rescued three plus weeks ago from a bad situation. All are (now) healthy and progressing well (4+ weeks old now). But my husband is complaining that when he goes in the kitchen (down a short hall from the puppy room) in the morning, he HATES the odor from accumulated overnight pee/poop (even if I get in there to clean up before hand! Sensitive nose!!). In the past (same problem with foster kitten families), I've tried room deoderizers, deoderizing sprays as well as a charcoal filtered wall fan. The room is kept immaculate, but I cannot pick up EVERY poop as it falls, especially overnight. (Kittens old enough to cover their poop with deoderizing litter have short-lived stink! Not so with puppies. LOL . Does anyone know of some sort of air cleaner that can be left on to circulate the air (gently!!) in the area near the puppy pen and that will QUICKLY eliminate odor? There must be SOMETHING out there that can keep him happy! The floor is tile, papers are removed MANY times a day and floor underneath wiped down with enzymatic pet cleaner; bedding is clean, pups shiny and clean, etc. Just need something to CLEAN THE AIR! Thanks for the help. This is a wonderful forum! Rainbow Pups Grammy (for colored neck "ties") |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome! That's great you are a foster mom. I don't know of anything to help but hopefully others will see this and have some ideas.

| This is what I use in my puppy room and I have a smaller one in Earl Greys litter box room. They really serilize the air and give it an almost chlorine smell to the air. Any of the air purifirers are pretty pricey. Lowes or some place like that may have more inexpensive ones; Austin Air Pet Machine Perfect for those who suffer from pet related allergies and need to remove dander and odors from the home.

| Welcome to yorkie talk! It is so wonderful that you took this momma in and her pups. I'm not sure what you could use, but it will be interesting to see suggestions.

| Hi Michelle, Thanks for the tip. You're right, it is pricey. Is it worth it? I've tried a couple of hepa filter systems, but none have removed the odor. The only "odor specific" one I tried was the little wall fan with a charcoal filter, and I guess that was too small and too slow to work. I have a hard time smelling the odor (except when fresh! Then P.U.!!). But my husband smells it and so does my son when he comes to visit. Neither of them like the smell of air fresheners, either, many of which I've tried -- tho I haven't tried the plug in's yet. I'm leary of spraying any more chemicals into the air the pets breath, especially little babies. So this pet air purifier might be the solution. Did you say you use it in a puppy room? That's exactly what I need. Thanks. Lynda |

| I think The air purifiers are worth it. When I do have fosters it works wonders. The vet That gave me the opportunity to become a Tech used these in her boarding facility of course they were a lot larger but they do work. The home improvement stores has similar units that are less expensive. I've seen them for around $99 to $189. It's worth a try . The sprays and airfresheners only make the odor worse IMO
