| Devastated yorkie drowned.. I am beyond devastated my Sweet Pea drowned in our pool on Monday. I have so scared about our pool and Sweet Pea for a long time because she loved to get in and swim and chase the ducks in it. I had a rule that when my son left for school or anyone left the house I wanted my Yorkies locked in the house so I didn't have to worry about them at work. On Monday my son rushed and didn't check to see if Sweet Pea was in the house. Well she wasn't. My male Sebastian was in the house and Sweet Pea was locked outside. When my son came home from school he found her dead in the pool. As a family we are devastated, all i hear is her calling to me 'MOMMIE HELP ME..SOME HELP SWEET PEA PLEASE". I do not blame my son at all he picked her out and loved her so much as we all do. My other Yorkie looks for her everywhere and must have heard her struggle because he runs outside looking around the pool. How am I going to move on, my heart is broken. When she was a pup i nursed to back to health because she was sick and I promised her I would ALWAYS KEEP HER SAFE. She was such an angel, the sweetest dog I every had. I am just broken and grief stricken.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I am so, so sorry to hear of your loss. This happened to an acquaintance of mine. They had a yorkie who didn't go near the pool for ten years... and then one day they found her drowned. I don't know if this will help, but I'm sure that Sweet Pea found so much happiness with you, and as awful as her death was, it can't compare to all the wonderful times she had with your family. Please be well.

| Oh no. I don't even know what to say. I am just so deeply sorry for you! My little 6 year old brother, Connor, drowned in a country club pool in 2006 so I have a soft spot for drowning victims and we run a foundation in his name. I never even really gave thought to dogs dying from the same thing... I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish there was something I could do.

| I am trying to be strong as not to make my son feel any worse, he loved Sweet Pea so much. But he told me last night I was talking in my sleep screaming for Sweet Pea to come..I have never felt so much pain and guilt that I DIDN'T LOCK HER IN. thanks for your kid words. The hard think is today was the first day I took my other yorkie to the park and he looked for Sweet pea to play chase and fetch...I don't know what to do.

| OMG I'm sitting here just crying my eyes out...My daughter lost her yorkie to drowing a few weeks ago....I know all too well how hard this must be for you and your family!! Your poor baby boy...he must feel so guilty!! YES I absolutely think you should get another yorkie as a playmate for Sebastian...and it will definately help to heal that horrible ache in your heart...I'm sooooooooooooo sorry you are going thru this...My heart is just broke for you and your family...and poor Sebastian!!! Don't feel guilty like you are trying to replace your precious baby.....I'm sure that is how you are feeling...I know my daughter felt that way at first....but within 2 weeks we got her another baby...and she said that she's coping so much better!! You're all in my thoughts and prayers....

| I am sooooo sorry for your loss. I've only had my yorkie for two months. I got her at 8 weeks right before surgery and I really bonded with her while I was recouperating. I wouldn't know what to do. I have a pool and I was going to ask here if yorkies like swimming. My last dog was a dalmation and would not swim. He fell in as a puppy but managed to get out at the deep end step. Would not go near the edge again. I can't imagine how you are coping. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Just know that your little Sweet Pea will always love you and the joy you brought to her life. I also agree, get Sebastian a new playmate when you are up to it. Take care. |
