| Question I put a deposit on a Yorkie pup on 3/28. I was sposed to pick Basil up on April 5th after coming back from a trip but when I came back and called the breeder, she said he did not seem well and his bm was black. She said she didn't want to send him home and stick us with a vet bill. I called every other day for a week to see if he was feeling better and ready to come home with me. Finally on Wednesday 4/15 I picked him up. He was very quiet and the breeder assured me it was because he was not used to being in her office area. I took him home and he drank water and ate a lil bit. He was very quiet and only had small bm once yesterday. Then he was dead this morning. How should I handle this with breeder? |

| oh my goodness, thats terrible. I guess the first thing you have to do is phone the breeder and tell her and what you do next will depend on the breeders response. Im so sorry...how sad and what an awful shock for you. |

| I'm so sorry Did the breeder ever say what was wrong with him? Did he go to the vets? I sure hope that the breeder does the right thing.

| Oh, I am so sorry, I can't imagine how hard this must be to go through. Did you sign any type of contract? When we bought Oscar, the breeder had us sign a contract that among other things stated that if the dog died of an illness within 5 years we would be reimbursed or given a new dog. Hopefully the breeder will do the right thing and replace the dog or give you your money back.

| I'm very sorry you lost your baby! As a breeder myself, I would be equally devastated. I am sure your breeder will make it right with you.. I am hoping you signed a health guarantee. Let us know how everything works out & again, so sorry about your loss!

| I am so sorry that you have been put through this needlessly the breeder had to know this puppy was not well, I on occasion have babies to sell but would not think of letting one go that was sick. she should do the right thing and give you a full refund this kind of deal is why good breeders with healthy babies sometimes get labeled along with the bad Betty & Micah my love |

| Oh, dear! What a horrible experience for you! Contact the breeder right away and let her know what happened. Hopefully she'll be professional and refund your money right away. Do not accept a "replacement" puppy from this breeder! You don't want to go through the same thing twice. Also, don't bury the puppy in case a necropsy needs to be done. I'd suggest calling your vet and asking if they could keep the puppy there until this is worked out. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | What a horrible experience for you! I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You didn't even have time to get a wellness check from the vet, did you? If you do not have a contract and the breeder doesn't do the right thing, you may want an autopsy done. I know absolutely nothing about the medical side of anything but the first thing that came to my mind was internal bleeding. Again, I am so terribly sorry for your tragedy when it should have been such a joyful time in your home. |
