| ![]() I think she looks like a yorkie. Just looks like her hair hasn't caught up with her features yet. I think if her hair grows out, she will defintately look like a yorkie. Either way, she is as cute as a button. I love her ears! ![]()

| ![]() Your dog is very cute! I don't think it should take 8 months to tell whether your dog is a Yorky though! Did you get to see both parents? Does the breeder raise chuahuas also? Possible to get DNA from both parents and check against puppy? My dogs ears were big while she was a puppy and her tongue just seemed too long to fit in her mouth, but the rest of her grew into everything eventually ![]() |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Thanks. According to the breeder she has no chuahuas because I called and mentioned it after my mother in law asked me what mix she was (I was horrified). I'm getting her DNA checked on Saturday. I did see both parents according to the breeder and they were soooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!! She didn't look like the mom at all but had the dad's coloring????????? Not too sure I was looking at actual parents....I defineately would never buy from a breeder who has many dogs and this is the second breeder who claims to have many years experience....I'm beginning to wonder if that's a good thing or not...No offense to those who are good breeders it's just I haven't had the best of luck with the experienced ones.... |

| ![]() How long will it take to get the results of the DNA test? This breeder sounds like a typical backyard breeder. BYB's have no idea what is in the background of the dogs they breed so all kinds of "surprises" pop up. What are you going to do if it comes back that she isn't pure Yorkie? Unfortunately, the law considers pets property so the doctrine of unlawful gain applies in cases like this. Keeping the puppy and getting your money back probably won't be an option. You've obviously bonded with her so I doubt you'd return her. I am so glad you decided not to breed. We don't need anymore so-called Yorkies being produced by dogs with unknown backgrounds. That's why today's Yorkies are so far off the standard and have so many health problems. ![]() |

| ![]() $1000 to pay for her was way over. If it shows up she's got something else in her, I would first think what you feel the dog is worth, then call the lady, tell her you have the dna test results, she has this or this in her, and you love the dog, but, feel you deserve this amt of money back. If she says no, then tell her you will be having your lawyer contact her. Sometimes that will scare them enough to work with you. Good luck, keep us posted |

The only other alternative would be to return the puppy and get a refund which I know you don't want to do. | |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() The contract says I can't get a refund but if she's not purebred I would think the contract is void. At this point, I would like a full refund and keep the dog. If I have to spend some extra money and it teaches her a lesson then I'll spend the money. I will try to work it out with her but I'm willing to bet she'll try to replace the puppy and I don't want another puppy from her!!!! There's got to be a way to get my money back if she's not purebred...a lawyer will help. I don't care what I spend, it's more a matter of principle and me not supporting the breeder!!!!!!!!!! I feel like it's people like me who keep these practices alive...this is why I walked away from the other breeder who had aprox. 40 plus dogs in this little room.....there was no way I was going to give her any money so she could keep breeding like that! I will keep you posted and I'm not sure how long it takes to get the test back....I'm going to call today and see if I can make an evening appointment before Saturday cuz I can't wait that long! The breeder seemed knowledgeable and I thought she was reputable...I searched online and found only positive reviews...that's what's so confusing about this!!! Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() Well, if she seemed reputable, it could come back that she is a full yorkie. Maybe once she grows into herself, it will be clearer why this breeder considered her a breed-worthy female. I always have hope that people mean well. ![]()

| ![]() I think with what everyone is saying, is getting you more and more angry. Right now just sit back and wait for the DNA results. Maybe she is a purebred, she is really cute. Maybe she breeds Chorkies and threw one in with the Yorkie litter, who knows, but just be easy on yourself for now. There may be a way to keep the pup and get your money back. Truth is, a breeder will take their puppy back, but they really don't want too. It just means they now have to try and sell the puppy again. And it's a disappointment to see that one HAS to come back. Breeders strive to do the best they can. Yes you can buy one from a show breeder, but you will pay a lot of money. There are PLENTY of good breeders out there that don't show. I bred and showed my Goldens when I had them. But I never said buying from a show person is better than anybody else. You odds of course are more favorable though because all testing is done on both parents and we did DNA on both parents, I did anyway. And each person who purchased my pup got a copy. I always showed the Original to them first. It can be a VERY Political game. And I'm prety sure I speak of ALL breeds and not just Goldens. You on the other hand can ruin this woman's reputation by her giving you a mixed breed, if it is. And stating it is a purebred. Maybe you can ask her to put in writing that it is a purebred to make you feel better. If she does it, you'll have another Ace. IF the DNA comes back mixed, I would call her and state, we have a problem. I would further remind her of how you questioned her about your baby being a purebred. Mind you, if it is a mixed her insides are already churning. Tell her you were getting more concerned about it and decided to engage the help of your vet who did a DNA testing. And the results showed mixed. In this case I would not give her the option of explaining anything. After you tell her mix, ask her immediately when she will be returning your money. Almost like she doesn't have a choice. You can then ask her if she wants the puppy and is she going to resell it as a Yorkie. Then tell her, being she now knows the dog is considered mix, she might want to consider letting the dog just stay with you. It would be trumatic for the puppy no matter what the breed. She knows her rep is in your hands. There is more than one way to skin a cat! ewwww, I don't like that saying. Good luck and keep us posted. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Me too Quicksilver, she seemed sweet and meaningful but like my dad always said "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it's a duck". And thank you Jemma. I did send off an email to the breeder stating my feelings and the fact that I would be DNA testing along with an online photo of a Yorkie mix that looked just like my female on the side of a real Yorkie that looked just like my male. I also said I would expect a full refund if she is a mix. She assured me once again that she is not a mix but I want to make sure anyway. I do have it in writing that she's a purebred Yorkie. I will absolutely follow your great advice in handling this if the DNA comes back mixed. Ksena is super smart and very sweet it's just I don't believe in crossbreeding and I wouldn't have taken a mix from any breeder. I would rescue a mix but to breed a mix doesn't make sense to me unless it was an accident. Thanks once again!!!! I hope once I get a good amount of knowledge I can help someone else on here!!!! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Yes, I saw both parents and they looked nothing like my girl except for the coloring. Her father had the same coloring but that was it. Both parents had full heads of hair...not the silky. She has curly hair on her body and no hair on her head???????? I've just never seen a Yorkie look like her...Do you have pics of your puppy? |
