Mothering instincts at it best in my opinion. Thanks for all the great responses it's so interesting!!!OP, I agree with letting the puppy pick you out. You can't go wrong with this technique as it will be the people dog (ie people-person if you will) Good Luck and post pictures when you get your baby Please.

| It is a common misconception that males are the ones who hump... Females do as well. It is not sexual by nature, it is more a dominate behavior, menaing, the dog is showing the it is in charge. I like the female Yorkie because I did not want to deal with the leg lifting that I have heard male Yorkies do more often .... I am unsure why it is said that females are less cuddly than males? Because my Female is not this way at all. She is a sweetheart. A constant follower, jumps on the couch with us, is at our side all the time, and never far away from me where ever i am. And that is in all honesty. Suzi is my first Yorkie, I guess all Yorkie's have there own different temperments, it is difficult to judge from one dog to the other. Just like humans. My suggetion, is to go to a reputable breeders home , and spend time with her and the puppies. Choose a puppy that best suits your personality. The one that comes to you, better you the one who chooses you! Forget about the sex of the puppy.

| Thor's Human Donating Member | On a more serious note, this is what I have read about selecting a puppy. I myself have never picked out a puppy, so I can't personally vouch for this technique. You don't necessarily want the puppy who runs up to you, because is more likely to mean s/he is the most adventurous and outgoing, rather than because s/he senses a bond with you. You probably don't want the puppy hiding in the corner, because s/he is likely to be shy. To pick your pup, try gently rolling a puppy on its back. You want a puppy who maybe struggles a little bit, but sees it as a game. You don't want one that is overly submissive, or gets angry, or gets scared. Since dogs are not comfortable on their backs with strangers, this can indicate if your puppy will be playful and easygoing.

| Both my boys are relax and easier going. ![]() My 3 girls are busy, moody and like to rule the house. ![]() I found both that both sex are just as cuddly. As already mention, girl are a lot fun to dress! I would also suggest that you just go to the breeder's house and see from there. One way or the other... It's going to be great for you to get the new puppy. |

| I personally always wanted a male pup. When I went to the breaders house to hava look see at the pups, a female came to me & would not leave me. Her brother (max) came over to spend some time with me while i was there and I got totally attached to the little man! I definately do not regret getting my boy!! As far as affection is concerned, max would rather play with me than get affection from me!! but he is a hellova energentic little guy!! Good Luck with your choice!! |

| I have one of both. My male is my baby...so laid back been questioned if we tranquilize him ....never barks, loves to sit in our laps, sleeps with us, always at my side. My female "Lola" is another story....very independent, doesn't need affection or stroking, very aggressive but not in a bad way. I love them both but prefer my Male. Hope this helps. Seems to be pretty consistent! Good luck and keep us posted. |
