(((hugs))) I hope that you are doing better. I know that watching that movie was probably opening up the wound and putting salt in it again. Know that we are here for you whenever you need to cry, vent, rant, etc.

| I liked the book much better and I highly recommend it! However, I found the ending sadder than it was portrayed in the movie.

| I really liked the movie. But, I would definitely not recommend it to someone who has recently lost a pet. I watched it the day after my grandma passed, so I was already incredibly emotional, and in the end, I bawled and bawled... my husband was upset because he did not realize how it ended, and he would not have let me watch it if he'd known

| I also have read the book. The book was fabulous. Often times when a movie is made from a book it is not as good . My son wants me to buy the book, and I've seen the previews. In the previews , it did was nothing like the book. I knew the dog passed away at the end of old age, and illness. But, I don't like it when a movie over does it , and does not do the story justice . That's how a lot of movies turn out though. I reccommend the book though. It is great.

| my husband and i went to see this on Xmas day thinking it would be an uplifting movie. we BOTH cried for the last 40 min of the movie. people were taking their children out of the theatre. i did not read the book and had no idea how sad it would make me. still, it was a good movie - not for children and not if you've recently lost your best friend. |

| We lost our 14 year old German Shepherd last month, and this was definitely not the movie to rent last weekend. Not a bad movie, but I wish someone had warned me of the ending, I had mistakenly thought it was a comedy

| I bought the DVD because I read the book. The book tells a true life story. IMO Marley was the reason we have dogs. Like the saying goes "better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all" I NEVER watch tearjerkers, but the relationship of this dog w/his humans shows you that dogs are not pets, they are true family members.

| I really liked the movie, but it's definitely hard to watch. My bf and I saw it while on vacation, and we were already missing Ella (we didn't have Jack yet). I went through several tissues. Also, the theater we saw it in was attached to a mall, so I had to walk through the mall and take a cab back to the hotel with a red nose and puffy eyes.

| I read the book and was crying in the train as I finished reading the last chapter of the book. Yes, I will not watch the movie as I know that I will cry buckets.... There is another very moving Japanese dog movie -10promises to my dog. My gosh, I cried so hard until I have to breathe through my mouth.

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I was so upset I think my husband felt bad. He held my hand I tried to cry quietly and not use an entire box of kleenex. When it was over he jumped up took the movie out made a bowl of popcorn and popped another movie in to try and change the mood. I don't think he knew what to say to me, if he hadn't been here I'd have been a sobbing wreck.

| I had heard that Marley dies in the end, but I didn't know how "graphic" it was until I read this post. If you have ever had the horrible experience of having to make that decision, it can haunt you for awhile...even though it is the right thing to do. We lost my bullmastiff in September of 2007, and it is still too soon as far as I'm concerned for a movie like this. I'm with whoever said they prefer uplifting movies, and I really hate it when they advertise a movie as a comedy and slip something like this in...The Family Stone comes to mind.
