Something like: It's never smart to leave an unspayed female with a unneutered male but these puppies are here and you need to keep them safe. Just please make sure to get her spayed after this litter....."

Or maybe I can continue to try to educate other on the horrors of pet overpopulation and puppy mills. This is a public forum and if someone is irresponsible and is making repeat litters of puppies then they need to be educated and what better time than when they are hand feeding a litter of puppies because the mother of the puppies ALMOST DIED?

As for me working in rescue, yes it has enlightened me tremendously. I would like to pass my knowledge to anyone and everyone but some just will not listen and do as they please. Will you be there when these puppies are no longer wanted at 2 or 3 yrs old? I will be to pull them out of a shelter and save another life. So if some comes to a public forum I can have my opinion be made known.

I have not called any names and if I have please point this out to me. As for no tact, please refer to my previous posts all over YT and you will see that I am always very helpful and willing to step up and help anyone with a legitimate problem. The only problem here is that she has not acted responsible and almost cause her dog to die during the birth of these puppies.

If you do not believe me that this is not responsible breeding, maybe you should ask a real breeder and get their opinion. The last time I checked legitamate breeders were not letting the females "get with" just any unfixed male. :rolleyes:

Finally, I am obviously a responsible person and have all of my PETS spayed/neutered. When I take in a rescue one of the first things that is done it to make an appointment for full vetting and spay/neuter appointment. No excuses~

Good advice. I would add that the pups need to be stimulated to pee and poo after eating. If Mom isn't doing it, you can use a use a warm, damp cotton ball or small cloth to do it. In addition to using a heating pad, keep the temp in the room warm. The amount you feed them will vary depending on the size of the pups and will need to be increased as they grow. Here's a link to a feeding guide Handraised Puppies Feeding Chart It's pretty well in line with other sources I've seen. The pups should have a nice, tight belly after a feeding. I've found an eye dropper works well with hand feeding. If you go slow with it, there's little risk of the pups aspirating the formula. My pups usually start eating on their own (at least trying) at around 4 weeks old. It's usually a few days after they start wandering around.

maybe this person who posted it feels terrible for letting this happen!you dont know!i never said that you should not try to educate the person but maybe now is not the time...maybe this person just needs some help and support now, i would think you,megansmomma, would be a lil concerned of the welfare of the pups.have you ever heard the expression you get more flies with honey than vinegar?

i understand what your are sayng about the accidental breedings too, i just feel like since we cant take puppies back we should be concerned of their welfare first, and then when the pups are ok, we should try to explain things like bybs,over population,and puppymills...instead of scaring the other poster so bad they never come back and then they wont here what we have to say at all

The first time gets my sympathy. This is the second time this has happened and I guarantee it will happen again. You can give all the sympathy, coddling and hand holding to the OP that you feel is necessary. I personally am now done!

HaHaHa...(who was that masked Yorkie?? LOL) Seriously, it's all about saving some pups now, right? I would like to applaud the OP for keeping the pups alive for the first 8 days. It's beyond exhausting to feed pups around the clock. I hope everything works out for them.

I also feel for people who come here with breeding problems and need support but also need to know that what they have done is wrong. Sometimes it\'s hard to hear but the only thing that may prevent them or others from doing it again and again.

Here\'s the thing and there is really no way of getting around it. When ppl come on here and post questionable behavior, they sit themselves up for criticism. They open the can of worms themselves. I don\'t post on threads which look like they are going to be confrontational, but come on.
I would have taken my in-season dog with me before I exposed her to this very thing. And why was she not spayed with all her problems?

Remember the OP posed her plight to everyone on the board not just to those who might think her actions were OK. Nearly everyday I read some tragedy caused by an irresponsible owner and half of the posters act like its allright because the owner is sorry. Posters should not report poor or questionable behavior if they really don\'t want feedback, pro or con.

And to those who blasted Megansmomma, she only stated the obvious.
