Taking good pictures of your yorkie...

I definately think teaching your baby to "SIT"...and "STAY" are important to getting a great shot! Then you can put them anywhere...and get eye level, which has been mentioned......and get that good shot...but don't just stop at one click....keep taking pics...like others have said I probably have 20 bad pics to my 1 good shot!!!

Plus I love outside shots too...especially when it's sunny outside...you can get some great pics..with cute scenery!

I agree...THANK GOODNESS for the Digital camera!! I'd be there right along side you at the poor house..hehe

Hi!

First of all, it's best to have the flash turned off. Pet eye's are sometimes really hard to reduce, so I usually [if inside], turn on the lights in the room on and open the curtains. Make sure she is in the light, but not facing it.

Secondly, I always have treats in hand! I use 'Little Jacs' by 'Bil-Jac'. [works like a charm ].
I get Molly to sit, or position her how I want her, or just wait for her to do something cute. She then gets a treat, while I'm saying "Stay". I hold the treat up in the direction I want her to look--continuously saying "Stay".
After I get the shot, she get's another treat.

If your outside, and just want some cute action shots. Make sure your cam is on the 'action' setting. Or, change the ISO speed so you catch the action you want before it's over.......It is possible for the camera to be quicker than they are!

Audrey-Belle hates the flash now when she sees the camera she leaves or looks the other way.

That's something I never thought of. I wonder if that could be part of my problem?

Juli mentioned avoiding the flash, also. I'm going to experiment with lighting in different areas of the house and see if that helps!

To take a good picture of your Yorkie, it just takes:

Good lighting;
Adequate equipment; and
A still moment (or alternatively, lots of luck or patience)!

A still moment....I'm not sure mine know what that is . I think I'm going to have to rely on the lots of luck part!!

You're right, they are! I hadn't really noticed that. My guys love it when I get down on the floor with them but I never remember to bring the camera with me when I do.

OMG this is a great picture! Oh, and they're all so CUTE! I don't know whether mine really notice that red light. That could be part of why they hate the camera.

I need to make a list of all these great ideas or else I'll never remember everything when I go to take pictures this weekend!
