| ![]() Ranger was SHY, laid-back and timid. Exactly what I wanted but I knew I would have to socialize him well. Go figure cuz now he's a crazy moster, lol! I guess I did a good job socializing him... I think it's hard to determine a puppy's personality, especially when they are so young and tiny. Good luck, but I say go for the shy one!!

| ![]() When I first broght Suzi home she was shy and timid .However, as soon as she felt comfortable Suzi changed... Sometimes , Suzi reverts though. the little guy that you might bring home may the the perfect match for you. But, go with the way you feel. Visit the puppy a few more times before making any final decisions . ![]()

| ![]() When I went to pick out a puppy there was 3 little girls. Small, medium and large. All 3 were so cute and I had a hard time deciding. Piper picked me out. She always wanted to be in my lap. If I was holding another puppy she wanted my attention. The puppies were 7 weeks so I was picking one out leaving a deposit and bringing the puppy home in a few weeks. Piper was the medium size girl. When I came back a few weeks later to bring Piper home all the babies were still there and Piper was the one that always camed to me and wanted to stay in my lap. It was as if she knew I was her forever Mom. I think it was love at first sight.

| ![]() depending on how shy the baby is and the personality of the other one, well it depends ![]() i have a very outgoing girl and a very very shy timid girl - both from the same breeder...the shy one is more work because everything needs to be done at a snails pace as not to startle her. she hunkers down when you go to pick her up, her ears go back when she is not expecting you to make eye contact, etc she is such a sweet girl though and not aggressive ![]() if you do go with the shy one, it might take more patience and awareness. i need to make sure i am extra aware of my shy one when the kids are playing otherwise she would never get attention because the other ones all jump in my lap and jump in my face to give kisses. i need to be extra cognizant to give her equal attention because she is not as pushy as her siblings ![]()

| ![]() Mine was a little shy when we got him, he wasn't very sure about us and seems a little shy/scared not sure which maybe a combination of both. I did socialize him as much as I could and bring him to anywhere that I possibly could. He turns out well and loves to go out to meet people and dogs. I actually like him being who he was because he wasn't overtly high strung or hyper.

| ![]() As long as he is healthy, I wouldn't hesitate to get the shy one. Our little JoJo was a little shy at first because we were strangers. He could not be more loving than he is now. He is a little reserved when he meets someone new but warms up quickly. Still is not real sure about being around other dogs because he probably doesn't know he is one. With a shy one you will probably just get more loving. |

| ![]() He sounds precious! I wouldn't worry about him being shy...he might have been tired or something, who knows. He let you rub his belly, so that's a great sign that he likes you already. I'm sure given a few more weeks, he'll be just fine. |

| ![]() My Tucker was the runt. The breeder said he was the least active of the three pups. However, I liked his looks. He is 5 months old now, and not the least bit shy. He loves to play, and loves people. I don't know how much you can tell about them when they are still with their litter mates, especially when the pups are the runts of the litter. Tucker's personality changed almost immediately. He very outgoing, and very active. Tucker's Mom |

| ![]() My Lucy is shy around new people. When I first got her she had NO personality. She is fun, feisty and every bit of a Yorkie!! In fact she is laying with me right now. But, get her around new people and she just mopes around until she is comfortable!!! I think he sounds like a cute dog, think about getting him!!! ![]() |

| ![]() There is a difference between shy and poor health. If he livened up with his parents and was more reserved with his siblings, then it probably is as the breeder said, he was forced into the background by the more exuberant siblings. As long as he respond to you ( which he did with the belly rubs and licking your finger) and he does not appear sick, I think he will come into his own when not around the other siblings. Also as another post stated, if you have another pet, keep in mind the personality differences. But to me he sounds like a keeper! Let us know how it works out. |

| ![]() I think you should go with your gut and heart. Visit the puppy one more time with an open mind like everyone said. My puppy was the one who chose me, but I read in a book you shouldn't just let that be the one factor. He is pretty friendly and social, but I think a substantial percentage in determining personality is based on training and environment. Good luck and I know you'll find your perfect pup!

| ![]() Thanks everybody, I talked to the breeder for a while today and she told me that Riley is doing well. He goes for his first vaccination next tuesday. While we were on the phone the said that he was zooming around the kitchen since she just let them all out a few minutes ago. I was glad to hear that. She told me that he is still the most shy out of his littermates and that his grandfather was also shy. He'll just need some extra love and patience. I made arrangements to go visit him in 2 weeks. I'm definitely more confident that I picked out the right puppy now that I've talked to you guys and the breeder. I can't wait to bring Riley home! ![]() |
