This sounds like a common scam to me! It's called 'bait and switch'.

IMO you still have a legal standing. Just keep all the emails or maybe tape a conversation with her where she admits that the puppy you wanted died and you have to take another one and she doesn't want to give all your money back.

I'm so sad to hear the same thing over and over again and all on the innocent backs of animals and trusting people...

Just because someone shows dogs doesn't make them ethical or honest or decent. About 7 miles from us we have an Australian Shepherd breeder who shows dogs. They have been busted multiple times for dead dogs, emaciated dogs, starved horses, dead horses. They've been busted twice in our country and they keep getting more dogs. I see the training equipment on their yard. It is horrible. The dogs were in over a foot feces and were eating the dead dogs. You can look into the barn when they have the side doors open and see cages clear to the top where the roof starts. And they have horses again. This time when they were busted I heard that they will be able to get the dogs back if they can prove that they will take care of them. What is that???????

And they are show people.....show their Australian Shepherds. I cringe every time someone generalizes and says show people are good breeders. Our small community know different.

You have to go see what is going on.

Looks like you were scamed. But, I feel so sorry for the puppy she wanted to give you. It is cute, and looks so sweet. It's probably not being treated very well. That breaks my heart. Tucker's Mom

Verify that those were the right photos (maybe she sent you the wrong photos), ask to see photos of mom and dad and some better close up pics of the pup as well as a photo of the entire litter (including the red pups). If dad does have DNA on file, tell her that if you do take the pup, you intend on DNA'ing the pup to verify parentage because the pup doesn't look like a show quality yorkie; it looks like a mix of something.

Hopefully that will change her mind and she'll give you your money back just to get rid of you ;-) I'm sure she doesn't want AKC to see any red flags or question her reputation.

Otherwise, small claims court would be an option, if you have all the facts in writing via e-mails to back you up. You could also complain to the Better Business Bureau.

Absolutely the best advice I hope you stand firm. This is happening way too often and we all need to stop taking it. Good Luck getting your money back and I hope you don't accept another puppy from her. Take your money, do some research for a good breeder close to you and find that beautiful puppy just waiting for you.

No you had a verbal contract! You take her to small claims court!! That's definitely pomeranian mix...

This is so true, anyone can show, it doesn't mean anything to be a show breeder. You can be a show breeder, and not have won anything also. The very best breeders belong to the mother club of the AKC and for yorkies, that's the Yorkshire Terrier Club of American (YTCA). They have the highest standards and ethics, and since they also show, many call them show breeders, but they should not be grouped with any breeder who decides to show. Breeders enter the show ring, for a variety of reasons, so just being a "show breeder" doesn't indicate very much in regards to quality, or ethics.

We did not back down and threatened to contact an attorney. the lady gave all of my money back. i still don't believe her pups are purebred and i am guessing she will sell them as akc...

Thats great news that you got your money back. Now run as fast as you can the opposite way from this breeder, lol

That is good news! Now I would still follow up and send the photos and a brief unbiased outline of the facts of this transaction to AKC. Someone needs to stop her before an unsuspecting person buys a dog from her expecting it to be something it is not.

Glad you held your ground and at least got your money refunded!

I totally agree here that you're about to be the victim of a "BAIT & SWITCH" scam...run fast, run, run, run away!!!

Hey, Besure if you tell her you want the next pick of the litter that you want it to be a YORKIE LITTER!!!!!!!!! No some halfbreed or mixture of something.... Haven't you ever SEEN a YORKIE PUPPY??????? They all look basically the same with the same marking unless they are some thro off that is red, blonde, black etc.. Go after the Bi---... I am sick of these people ripping off you guys............geeze what is this world coming to... How much did she charge you for the dog?? Goo luck, where is this place located anyway???

I am so happy you got all your money back ! those puppies you showed us honestly looked to me like little poms. They were definately not Yorkie babies. At least u were refunded. PLease be very careful next time. It is so important to go to a breeders home and see the parents of the puppies and talk to the breeder face to face. Maybe this one really just sent u the wrong pictures. I do not know.
All ended well for you, and that is what was important.

Why dosen't someone from Oregon call the animal welfare department out there and report her????? There is a county unit that investigates these kinds of claims. I was on teh site LilBitOfHeaven and looks to me like they are move involved in horses and cows etc. Will someone PLEASE CALL SOMEBODY OUT THERE????? This is rediculous !!!!!!
