| I do actually. I have McKenzie licensed to my dad and also have her vets records in their name. But if my neighbors claim she's mine and there everyday -- because they *know* she is, I don't know what cause they will have then to investigate further. |

| Can you see if there is some sort of waiver or exemption for kennel owners? What do breeders do? Maybe you can apply for whatever license they have that can okay the ownership of more than 3 dogs. It might cost a little, like having to purchase a business license. I would see if there is a kennel nearby where you could ask some questions. Other dog lovers will be your ally in this mess. Sorry you are having to deal with this. We live in an unincorporated part of the county. So, I could put cows in my front yard if I want. There are virtually no animal restrictions here, thankfully.

| dogert, thank you for the list -- my town isn't on there, but it was interesting to see the different limits. the funny thing is, i couldn't even find out the limit from my town. the clerk said she "thought" it was 3 but wasn't sure, and the SPCA in town had no clue either. i don't know how they can expect people with no idea of the town limits and them not posted anywhere to know this information. |

| If she is in your Dad's name, then you are keeping her temporarily...which is subjective...there are many temporary things that last for years. Being fearful is not going to help you. Educating yourself on your rights will. The definition of "temporary" in B.L.D. is: Lasting for a time only; existing or continuing for a limited time; transitory. Technically, I'm on this planet "temporarily", lol.

I just feel so helpless in this. I'm a good person, I follow all the rules, I love my dogs. It's just terrible. I wish I could move. | |

| If she is registered to your Dad, then you are keeping her "temporarily". That is a subjective term. They can't say what "temporary" is, and the law is clear: temporary, adj. Lasting for a time only; existing or continuing for a limited time; transitory. Stop being fearful, and learn how to legally stand up for yourself...by educating yourself on your rights. Don't listen to me or anyone else...find out for yourself. *sorry about the double post...it is raining and my internet connection is via satellite, so in and out"

Make notes of everyone you talk to, name, time of day you called and what day you called and their response of "I don't know". You can say you tried to find out but nobody who should know did so how is the public to know the limit when they don't. That would push some responsibility back on them.

| Thank you guys. I am just trying to inform myself on the laws right now and figure out what I can do to protect us in this situation. You guys are so nice for being so sweet and supportive. I've been crying since I read the paper earlier and it's nice to be able to talk with others you can sympathize. |

| Try not to let your emotions get in the way right now. your going to have to be proactive in all of this mess .I would take your little dog to your parents home next week until all this crap is over with. The dog is lienced to be over there, so just take her there for a while . I would not be too happy with your neighbors, however, what's done is done .Sometimes people have nothing else better to do then make trouble for others.

| Shoot What gets me is that this is a loving, clean home with one extra little yorkie dog, and a police officer , may make a fuss over that??? Bloody hell? There are people out there with way too many pets or with pets that are uncared for that need medical care and services that a officer can help and are in need of services. Why take away somebody's beloved family member who is well cared for? This does not make any sense to me whatso ever . I hope this issue can be resolved easily without a painful outcome. I am upset for you now. this does not seem right at all. I'd definately continue to do my homework and know my legal rights. Since the little Yorkie in questionis regerstered to someone else this maybe your saving grace. Best wishes to you!
