| Help! Scratched a hole through crate!! Baxter has a wonderful crate I bought for him. It is from Port-A-Crate and it has been working wonders! When I first brought Baxter home, I tried to keep him in his crate overnight. He whined and cried and hated it. So I let him sleep with me. Every time I left to go somewhere, I would put Baxter in his crate. My roommates said he would cry, but gradually he has stopped. They say he whines for a few minutes, then stops and goes to sleep. (I don't let them take him out if I'm only gone for an hour or two.) When I would get home, I would take him outside immediately. This has helped SO MUCH in his potty training. Now I keep his crate door open, and he will go in there to sleep ALL THE TIME. Like right now, he is in there sleeping. He loves it! Well... the other day I went out, and when I came back, Baxter was out of his crate. I look at it, and there is a massive HOLE right by the zipper. He can slip right out of his crate anytime I put him in it. Now I don't know what to do. Should I buy him another crate? I just feel like he is so attached to his... I don't want to throw it away. Maybe I could have two crates? And if I do buy another crate, any suggestions on one's that he can't bite/scratch/dig out of? Thanks for any help guys!

| I think the one you are using is the mesh one. It would be better to get a hard plastic or wire one so he cant scratch out. If you put it in the same place he will love it just as much. The mesh ones are not ment to keep them in like the others are. I hope this has helped.

| Thank you so much! What kind of crate would you suggest getting? I mean, do you suggest a certain brand type?

YT 1000 Club Member | The plastic ones are nice and aren't as drafty as the wire ones. My sister in law has one like you have. I think she uses it mainly for when they travel in the vehicle. When we were there visiting I put Roxie in it while we went out and when I came back she had broke out of it. I knew I should have just went out and got her crate but they insisted on just putting her in that one. She didn't put a hole in it though....she just worked at the zipper untill it slid down and opened it up. |

YT 1000 Club Member | I don't know the brand name but it's white plastic and has a wire door in the front. You should be able to find them anyplace that sells pet supplies. |

| Petmate I have a Petmate Two Door Deluxe Kennel crate for Pistol. He loves it and it's a good sturdy product. It is plastic with 2 doors a wire one in front and a wire one on top, with ventilation holes on the sides. It is a size small 19 inches by 12.3 inches by 10.8 inches. The size is perfect for him, he is a little over four pounds. I got it at PetSmart for around $25.00. In fact I liked it so much we bought two, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. With doors open this is where he sleeps and has no problem with the door being shut if I'm going to be gone for awhile. |

| I keep Baxter's crate under my bed, and that makes it feel like his ''den.'' He used to go in his old crate all the time and sleep. I found a $25.00 one at Petsmart the other day. It's made from Petmate, but it doesn't have the wire door on top, only in the front. Baxter got to sniffing in it, but he didn't like staying it for too long. I haven't left him alone yet, but my BF might if he decides he needs to go somewhere either tonight or tomorrow. (My BF is watching Baxter while I'm in SC for a wedding. ) But anyways, as soon as I get home I will post some pics for all to see. I also bought Baxter a new food bowl. He was digging in his other one and tipping it over and biting the bottom. At first, he wouldn't eat out of it, but this morning when I woke up, all his food was gone, so I knew he had eaten. Thanks for all your help guys!
