| Congradulations on your new yorkie . You have your hands full. I am unceratin as to why she is not doing a better job at potty training? At 2 yrs old they at least know by now, humm . Nobody has ever even taught her. Poor little one, this is not her fault. Did this woman who had her give you any health records? Has this dog ever even been to a vet? what about vaccines? I am wondering what else the last owner has not done for this poor little dog?

| Thank you everyone!!!! I have been gating her until she goes potty & she cries & cries real tears even but when she goes I'm telling you we PARTY!!! Well tomorrow we go to the groomer & we're shaving & starting over. I spoke to her vet & they faxed her entire chart & she is up to date on everything BUT not fixed Oh I also noticed she has periodontal disease & will have to take her in for a dental ASAP |

| how are precious and princess doing? How's the potty training going? I can tell you when Madison ( who previous name was tinkerbell) came to live with us, she copycat everything Lexie did. If lexie went out side to pee madison would pee in the same spot. (i learned later that was called marking, and has stopped now that she's spayed) But my point is that having someone in the house the knows the ropes helps. But there were days the first few weeks that I would put her harness and leash on and wrap the leash around my waist while I was in the kitchen cooking, just so I could cook without wondering what she was up to and not have to have her in her crate. anyways I was just checking to see how everyone is adjusting and wishing you the best! |

I have a 7 yr old and an 8 mth old. My 7 yr old I got a year ago, she learned basic commands as an adult, so your 2 yr old is not to old to learn. I got the puppy when he was 5 mths, the first couple of days my 7 yr old wanted NOTHING to do with the puppy, now they get along well. It helps to take them on walks together, take away any toys that causes fights and don't leave them alone with each other for at least a month ( and only if they have started bonding with one another). Give your first yorkie attention first to minimize feeling he is being replaced. Bottom line, you have to let both know that you are the alpha top dog! | |

| Also ref the potty training, If she pooped on the potty pads, she's trained, the accident on the carpet is probably stressed related or even marking territory. I'd be patient with her, she's trying to adjust to a new owner, a new home and another dog!! Also as a woman you know how a "bad hair" day can make you feel not quite at your best!!! |

| Well today she goes to the groomer!!! I don't know if it's the right "yorkie thing" to do but I am having her shaved & starting all over with her hair because it feels totally like straw! My thoughts were if we start over & I bathe & condition her regularly it may feel softer. IDK I'm trying it we'll see. As far as pottying the accidents are less often but still happening. She is gated in the kitchen everyday (I work 4 days a week) she goes on the pad when she is in there gated up BUT if she is in the living room with all of us she will just simply squat & not even bother to walk into the kitchen & use the pee pad! Very annoying She also barks her fool head off when shes gated also very annoying I have discovered she has very bad peridontal disease...her breath was very bad so I went & bought doggie toothpaste & toothbrush & cam home & tried to brush her teeth, well her gums just bled & bled (I work for a dentist) so obviously this is the cause of her bad horrible breath. She does need to get fixed so I will also have them do a dental while she's under. I also guess this is why she doesn't like chewies or bones or anything you would normally give a dog to chew on. The poor thing doesn't even like to play with toys, not ropes, not balls, not stuffed animals....NOTHING! I swear I have no idea what her old owner did with herbecause she obviously did not bathe, brush, play, give treats, brush her teeth nothing nothing at all! I'm just glad I "saved" her from a lax owner & can now try & train & love her to pieces!!! I have a picture in my photo album of Princess the day I brought her home AFTER I spent 2 hours brushing out most of her mats & I will try & post some more after her grooming appointment today. THANKSto everyone for their congartulations & advice MOMMY TO PRECIOUS & PRINCESS |
