prince is making me worried =( since the weather was so nice today i took prince out for a little while around 2.. he ate at 1230.. we were out for about 2 hours but hes still not used to the car and all the noises outside so he was shaking alot and i brought him home.. as soon as i brought him home he went to sleep.. i thought he was probably just exhausted from being out.. around 6oclock i was preparing his meal and i noticed he was acting funny.. to me it seemed like a little hypo was setting in so of course i panicked and gave him nutracal and fed him right away. i was about 6 hours he didnt eat so i was convinced that was it. after eating he pooped and was laying on my lap but still acting strange to me. he was panting like he had been running alot but he hadnt and he was lazy and lethargic so i gave him a little karo syrup (still worried).. he did start to play a little and my bf says he seems fine now but i know my baby & to me something is wrong. his belly is really warm and theres a gurgling bubbly noise..i can even feel it when i put my hands on his belly. he is drinking alot of water.. im hoping he just had a stressful day but my gut is telling me something isnt right.. he looks normal to the eye but only a mother culd sense something is wrong.. does anyone understand? am i just over reacting ?? help

My little girl had that gurgling sound before, kind of like our tummies when we're hungry. Well, I took her to the vet and that's exactly what it was, her tummy was growling. I sure hope your little guy is going to be okay. how old is he?

Laddy did this last week and we thought he had gotten in to something in the Garage. He passed completely out and we couldnt wake him we were getting ready to call the vet when I though about the karo. I gave him two syringes of that and 4 of fresh water and he came to and started to play a little. Not his usual self but was up anyway. Next morning we took him to the vet. Everything was ok and they said it had to of been hypoglycemia and since this had happened to make sure that at least once a week to put a syringe of karo in his water to prevent it from happening again because he could of went into siezures and shock. I hope thats all it is with your little one will be praying for him. Laddy's eyes were also glazed over he would just open them to little slits. Its very frightening Last edited by nanahas3; 03-07-2009 at 11:50 PM.

he seems much better this morning, he tugging at my pants as i type this lol but i have a feeling he had a tummy ache for some reason. yesterday he pooped 3 times which is odd and just now he pooped as soon as he woke up b4 i even fed him which is weird.. hopefully he just had a little bug or maybe a little buildup in his tiny tummy. he seems good though now thank god! but ii will try puttin the karo syrup in his water once a week just to be safe. it is also very possible he had sligh hypo from the stressful day yesterday now im second guessing if i should take him out today

Glad to hear he is feeling better. Is it possible he could have eaten something on the street with out you seeing, they are very sneaky you know LOL. As far as today goes I would watch him for a bit and as long as he seems fine I would take him out but prob. on shorter trips. My friends and family laugh at me cause whenever I take Milo out for the day I pack a bag food, treats, baby wipes, and water this way I am always prepared. Have a good day

shorter trips should help. The problem is they get scared we panic we try to comforty them but by doing this we just reinforce the behavior. I am a firm believer of Cesar Milan and he states we need to snap them out of it, what I try to do is always have on hand a small can wth coins in it when Milo starts to shake or bark I shake the can and that diverts his attention and when he is calm then I tell him good boy and give him a treat. Teadious yes it is but the more you do it the quicker they learn. Also someone told me lavender is soothing so I went to the health food store and got lavander escentual oils in a spray and I spray his blanket for the car and that seems to help a little.

i dont know if i should start a new thread but im going to update here.. i spoke about prince having a belly ache on this thread about a few days ago well we went downhill from there yesterday(saturday) prince had diarrhea all day a total of 3 times and it was very messy and stinky.. this morning he had a mucus diarrhea with a little blood in it so i made an appt for the vet asap. well guess what.. prince has giardia i am reallyyy reallyyy sick over this bc i dont know how he got this and im totally freaking out doing lotsss of research. i mean he looks and seems fine its just his stools that are all messed up. at the vet they gave him 2 shots one of penicillin and one of dexamethasone (what are these?). the vet also sent me home with 3 medicines biomax, deworming, and metronidazole. prince is also on new food special for gastro problems and rebound to restore electrolytes. my vet said not to worry because all this medicine will have him cleared up in no time but i am still freaking out. what should i do about the house? i have to bleach everything and change all his bedding? can humans get this?? any input would be greatly appreciatedddd. do you think i should start a new thread about this? also, he is 5 months old, 3.4 pounds and an indoor dog even if he goes outside i dont put him down on the floor. how did my baby get giardia?

| Violet doesn't have giardia, but they thought she might. While we were waiting for the test results, I was panicked and did tons of research on it. They don't know for sure whether it is zoonotic, i.e., passable between humans and dogs, but it may be, so be sure to wash your hands a lot, especially after handling the dog or his poo. Also, yes, I would clean all of his toys and blankets and bleach his crate and the area he is in the most. You can't be too careful. Apparently, giardia can be tough to kick, maybe because dogs get reinfected easily. As for how he got it, don't stress about that. He could have had it since birth (sometimes dogs carry it but don't show symptoms). He could have eaten another dog's poo, etc. It's very contagious. It's not your fault at all. If you search here for giardia, you'll find TONS of info.
