| Isn't that barely 4lbs? I would hardly call that big! I get so tired of the "tiny" obsession with yorkies...geesh!

| Maybe I'm wrong here but when they said she's so big I got the impression that they thought if you dont have a tiny yorkie they seem to think all yorkie's are tiny and that if yours is not its not thorough bred! Thats what grinds me. But I could be wrong and just plain over protective :-)

| Thats why I sent her to the groomers, I asked them loads of questions first before I felt comfortable enough to take her there.

| YT 1000 Club Member | I'm not sure that anyone means all that much harm in any of it. Roxie is 5 lbs. and when my son and I see another yorkie he automaticly points it out. Sometimes I'm the one that says it's a little bigger or smaller then Roxie, not to the owner just between my son and I. I don't mean any harm by it at all for I love all of them and think it would be wonderful to have a yorkie that's of larger size. I just wouldn't want anything smaller then Roxie because personally when she was a puppy and had a few health issues it was very nerve wracking for me. Plus at 5 lbs. I have a hard time seeing her when she's right at my heels. I'll turn circles looking for her and she's right there all of the time lol! Just wanted to point out that I love them all and would never mean any harm by noticing that one was larger or smaller either way. It's all in the genes and no big deal to me. But I do agree that comments like Rat and other names are disrespectful and mean. Those are the types of things that are upsetting. I've had people say that about Roxie. I have to ignore it because it's a family member that says it and while he means no harm it's just not a nice thing to say. The main thing is that my kids, hubby and I all love her so much it makes her a very big dog being so full of all that love. |

| Being a young teen, he may have just meant your little girl seemed big for 19 weeks. In his mind 19 weeks was a tiny baby and maybe his year old dog seemed a lot older to him. Hard to write what I am thinking but you know, maybe he was equating people size differences with the difference he was seeing in the dogs and thought there would be a lot more difference. I think sometimes we are so bonded with our babies that we get alittle overprotective when we hear comments. They may have meant nothing sinister at all but unless we hear something like, "what a wonderful, beautiful, yorkie" we get our defenses up. People comment on human babies' sizes all the time too and usually mean nothing bad by it. Last night at the ballpark, I said, "What a big boy you are," to a little human baby and all smiled like it was a compliment. It was just something to say so I could get attention from the sweet little guy. Big or small comments usually don't mean anything. But if we are overly sensitive about something, we can hear malice in anything. I know I am sensitive to my weight, so if a comment can be interpreted in a bad way about my size, I will probably hear it that way when I know I should not. Hope I am writing this the way I mean it. I empathize with you, but am encouraging you to look at a positive turn on the encounter. Now, if someone obviously has their nose in the air when they comment, then, fine -- give them a comeuppance but be sure they are not just making conversation because they are drawn to your little one. BTW I love that tail! I was so tempted to leave my litter's tails on, but most expect them to be docked here, so I went with tradition. But I really like the tails.

| Cash is about 8 or 9lbs (4.4 kg) and I get the "Oh, but that's a big yorkie," from people who know yorkies. From the ignorant, I get questions like what breed he is and if I dyed his back!! Some people thinks he is a girl simply because his hair is long. ![]() I think there are a lot of ignorant people in the world and we, yorkietalkers, should just smile and wave
