Victim of "oh my word, she's so big" and first grooming story This weekend was the first time my Bella fell victim to this. Little boy and his mom walks into the groomers (Bella's first grooming) they have two yorkies with them, they are tiny ones, I must admit but I thought they just had longer hair than Bella to be quite honest. I ask how old their yorkies are and they say over a year old, boy asks me how old Bella is and I say she is 19 weeks old, which makes her almost 5 months old, and he says " oh my word, she is big hey, but she is very friendly" Ofcourse she is friendly, she is still a puppy. I'm really not worried whether people think she is big or small but wish people would keep their comments to themselves. I understand that he is a young boy and probably does not know any better. Either way I think my baby is the cutest :D She went for her first grooming this weekend, I warned the groomer that she is a feisty little girl who definately does not like having her nails cut. I went to pick her up from the groomer who told me that she has sharp teeth, hahaha, she nipped her while cutting her nails. She looked super cute and pics are in my album if you would like to see. The hair on her ears were cut so short, now they are standing straight as arrows. :) I just want to say I LOVE MY YORKIE :) |
Why does it upset you if someone says your yorkie is 'big'? Is it because they say it in a negative manner as if they are talking 'down' on your baby? just curious...This size 'obsession' is getting a bit ridiculous in my opinion. I'm sorry you felt upset...but i'm sure your baby is looking beautiful...going to check out those pictures!;) |
Awe, sorry u had to hear that. Bella is a cutie pie! I tell ya, wish ppl would just practice the rule of thumb of, if u don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all! i am a victim of the other end, 'how come she's so little?' 'is she a teacup?' What?! i m thinking, i don't look at u and say; how come ur so skinny/fat/ugly?!?! hahaha |

She weighs 1.9kgs now and I'm glad she is healthy and fiesty, thats probably why she gets spoilt so much. :animal-pa |
Just wanted to add...if it makes you feel any better! that I have a tiny, and she gets alot of negative comments from 'Runt' to 'Rat'...people just think they can take the p**s just because she's so little...just put it down to pure ignorance and plain ol jealousy!;) |

Oh I would cause bodily harm if someone called Bella a rat or runt, that is just plain rude...Cant believe some people. Try to close Pixie's ears for that...she is absolutely gorgeous btw :D |
Awww she looks cute with her hair cut. Wow..look how nice her ears are!! |
People have made that comment to me before (Jackson is 10 pounds nearly at 5 months) but I take zero offense to it. Most people tell me "I like them that size better!" |

Nicked??? |
people always commented on how big charlie is. He is a teapot. My hubby's friend and his wife came over to look at charlie. They have a yorkie too who is over 1 year old. They were amazed at how big charlie is compared to their yorkie. When they first saw charlie they were like "wow he is so big. Did guys see the parents before you got him? Was he advertised as a teacup?" So I have to explained to them about where and who we got charlie from. Yes the hubby saw his parents and fell in love with his parents that is why he got charlie. We don't care about his size. |
