| break away collar I used to be pro collar all the way exspecialy when Callie was at her darting out the front door phase well now she is getting these bruises occasionally on her neck the first one I was like hmmm thats weird she must have hurt her self it seems like just a bruise it will go away and be like a one time thing, well it happened again I noticed it last night and I'm thinking that her collar is either getting caught on something or the dog next door is pulling it through the fence. The dog next door is a Shepard so hes strong enough, but this bruise was really bad I could see it without moving her hair out of the way. I'm so scared her collar is going to choke her how ever this is happening but I'm scared not to have tags on her. So I was thinking about a break away collar. Then if its the dog doing it her collar will be in there yard and I will know I need to put a fence where he cant put his mouth through it. Does anyone know if they work? Does any one know where I can get one that doesn't say cat on it lol and that would fit a 10.5 inch neck? Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmm, that bruise is odd - I'd be worried too. I use Chloe's Collars for Marcel and LOVE them (Wylie wears a leather collar). I get the breakaway, with a bell (bc he is small) - and I also have her do ribbon-on-ribbon so it's not "thick" - it's just perfect for Marcel. Also, for small dogs - the collar should only allow you to fit your pinky tip btwn the neck and collar; if it was too loose, it could catch on things. And it goes without saying, collars are only for ids/bells - not for leashing. I know you already know this, just saying it in case anyone new is reading this.
