how do you answer the $ question?

I've had a few people ask how much Riley costs and he isnt even home yet lol. I just tell them that yorkies can range anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars. If they want me to be more specific I just tell them i got him from a friend of a friend as a gift.

Some people make the general comment that yorkies are expensive. Others asked how much? and I tell them. I get the crazy stares and the rude comments, but I am a very straight foward person and will not hesistant to tell a person that it's my money and I do what I damn well please with it and why should it matter to you it's not like you contributed to it.

I think it would depend on who it is, If Im at a dog park or if the converstation goes like I have always loved yorkies and wanted one , blah blah and they inquire I tell them honestly , I dont see why I wouldnt be truthful but if it were just someone being nosey and stuff then I say alot but worth every penny...

I'm already getting this question. Mostly family and friends that I'm showing her picture to.

And well I am a Pure Romance consultant so I have been telling them "I had to sell lots of Toys to get her" they usually don't ask anything else.

Besides my husband and a few friends who already have Yorkies or other dogs and know how much Yorkies cost, I tell strangers she was a gift and I really don't know how much she was. That usually stops them from asking any more questions.

Most people that have asked me, just wanted to know so they could know a general price of the dog, so they knew what a fair price was in our area. I think it is a fair question --- as long as they aren't asking as a status thing (we didn't pay more than $500 for either of ours though, so they aren't getting much status from us when they ask anyways I guess haha)

I agree. I get asked this question also. It really doesn't bother me but I didn't pay as much for mine as some people have.

I think when you have paid quite a bit for yours it can become a bit uncomfortable to disclose that amount to people. It's hard to tell whether they are asking because of status or because they are thinking about getting one. In some ways it's like having someone ask you how much money you make.

You can always say what I say "There is no way to estimate the cost of my Tater considering the amount of designer shoes, sunglasses, and cell phones he has eaten". That dog is priceless!

So far I have not had anybody ask me other than family & friends. But I don't think a stranger should ask, its none of their business.
