				   | Congratulatins on your new little girley. I had to smile at your first post -- but please remember that the only bad question is one that is genuine and isn't asked..... not back to the subject at hand..... Remember, boys had bats and balls, girls have gloves |

![]() As for the rabies shot question, I have always heard that its recommended to wait til the year mark for a rabies vac. Not sure of the exact reasons why, I'm sure it has to do with their development within the first year.

				   | Congratulations on your little girl! I thought the same thing when i got my baby. I called the breeder in a panic, she assured me she was a girl and told me if it were a boy the private part would be in the middle of the stomach. I got my baby her rabies shot at 5 months. She is perfectly fine, she also weighed 4 lbs. at the time. I have a morkie (1/2 maltese 1/2 yorkie)

				   | My breeder really wanted me to wait till I had her spayed at about 6 months. The law here is 12 weeks. She was 16 weeks when I got her. I told my vet I wasn't doing it and he was ok with it. She went to puppy school and had to have it for that. She had her rabies at about 5 months and was fine. |

				   | Congrats on your new baby girl! She's a cutie. I see you're from Grande Prairie, how cool is that. I live a couple hours drive away from Grande Prairie. You'll love it here on yorkietalk, it's a great place to be. |

				   | Welcome to YT! Your little girl is adorable, congrats! As for the vaccination there is a trend to 'less is more'. Imagine that a 4 lbs. Yorkie gets the same amount of vaccine as a 150 lbs. Great Dane... A rabies shot (minimum age 6 months) is necessary if your baby goes for a trip across any borders and if she is outside a lot where she could get in contact with a rabid animal. Oh... and keep her from biting anybody... Once a dog had a rabies shot he/she can have a test to determine if enough anitbodies are in the blood. Some dogs can have a bad reaction to rabies shots and it is better not to have it together with any booster shots. Last edited by Mitzis Mom; 03-15-2009 at 11:31 PM. |

| Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | congrats on your baby girl...i think rabies vaccines are administer starting at 4 months old...but i wouldn't give her a vaccine and rabies on the same day..they are not that big and getting both shots the same day might be too much for them to handle.

				   | Wow! I have learned a lot with this thread! I had no idea! I hope that she will be ok with getting her puppy shots and rabies shot in one day If I would have known I would have waited to get the rabies shot. Can anyone tell me what kind of symtoms she would have if she has a bad reaction and how long it would typically be before I know we are out of the woods of having any problems? Now Im kinda worried for my baby |

				   | Hi, As far as having a Tea cup, there is really no such think, unless it is and under weight very small puppy. at 12 wks she should be close to 2 pounds. Mine was 1.10oz at 12 wks. and she is just a very petiete puppy, the smallese of the littler. You might want to read more about so called teacups, they are verry fragil and require more medical care because of everything being so small. Hopefully she will be 3 lbs by the time she 16wks. she needs wet food 2-3 times daily and free feeding on dry food thru the day when she is hungry and ofcourse fresh water daily/constantly. You can look for a yorkie puppy growth chart online and it will give you more info. Good Luck..... God Bless Quote:
