| 1) Brush Chris Christensen Pin Brush (20mm Toy). 2) Comb I love my Madan Combo Comb. 3) Shampoo I use "Isle of Dogs" Puppy Shampoo 4) Conditioner I use "Isle of Dogs" Heavy Conditioner. I didn't like the light one, and Chris Christensen Ice on Ice Spray in Conditioner 5) Lotion Huh, for what? 6) Nail clippers I use my human ones. I feel that I can be more accurate with how much I'm cutting. 7) Heartworm preventative I don't use one. Thanks for your help!

| 1) Brush -- 2 of the most recommended brushes are: Chris Christensen 20 mm Gold pin brush -- you can order straight from the company --http://www.chrissystems.com/ or -- the Maden Brush -- email: c.fernking@comcast.net and she will sell you one for $19.00 plus $4.95 shipping. 2) Comb -- Chris Christensen sells a 006 butter comb or the Greyhound comb is sometimes recommended, available at many of the pet supply places like petedge.com 3) Shampoo -- I like the Espree products -- available at many pet supply places or go straight to espree.com 4) Conditioner -- again, I like the Espree line -- my favorite conditioner is their Luxury Remoisturizer. If you go to the Espree site and email them, they will send you some samples to try. 5) Lotion -- I don't use lotion on my Yorkies. 6) Nail clippers -- I like this kind: PetEdge: Master Grooming Tools Ergonomic Professional Nail Clippers -- It has a little guard so you don't accidently cut too much off at a time. But.... I really want to get one of the grinder type nail groomers so I can "sand" them off instead of cutting them. 7) Heartworm preventative -- I use Heartguard Plus. You can order from 1800petmeds.com or just get them from your regular vet. Our vet matches price with petmeds.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I don't even have my puppy yet but I have purchased some of the things you are talking about. As far as where and how much... There are a large number of pet supply places online. I generally found a great deal of the same products at each place. However, I shopped according to shipping costs and sales. I have not purchased a heartworm med. I will see what our vet says on the wellness check. As in anything related to a medicinal product, I will trust his education over mine...unless I have questions due to personal research. I purchased tearless puppy shampoo and a de-tangler/conditioner. I am allergic to various "flowery" smells of many products so I either purchased without a scent or baby powder. I purchased a kit of L'il Paws Petite grooming items made especially for the small dog. Our breeder may suggest something else...yet to be seen. This kit includes nail clippers, combs, brush, etc. However, I have also purchased a pedipaws but am unsure if I will use it. In the same category of grooming, I have also bought some of the hair bands and little, tiny lightweight bows. You did not mention dental supplies. I'm not sure which I will like best but I have ordered the "thimble-looking" tool as well as a dog toothbrush and special toothpaste. Additionally, I have bought several chew toys that are supposed to deter tartar problems. Lotion per se I have not bought. However, I have purchased some kind of paw balm to pamper her paw pads. I have also purchased a pet emergency first aid kit and extra powder that stops bleeding should I ever brave the nail clipping. Plus, I've bought the powder that is supposed to aid the removal of hair in the ears. After I get her and discover her most favorite treats, I plan to let one of them be assigned totally to her baths and/or grooming. I want her to associate the process as a good thing. Those particular treats will be used only for grooming adventures. I would estimate that I have spent about $75-$100 on the above-mentioned items sans the treats. Of course, this is dependent upon such factors as product name recognition and cost of living in the area where you live. I generally purchased with little or no shipping costs. Hope this helps but remember my Yorkie is still in the "bought but not in possession" stage. |

| thanks all for the helpful tips. i read somewhere in the forums that folks use lotion on their yorkies to help soothe dry skin. sounds like chris christensen is a popular line. i'll have to be honest, i never heard of it before, but i'm sure glad i asked.
