I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() Lol, I hate spiders, except for those that look like Joey! Donna, you're still jealous Joey won the Halloween contest aren't you? Joey got sick at about 4 months of age, with non-stop vomiting, as the only symptom. The emergency room gave him fluids, and we never did learn what the problem was, they were wondering about a spider bite, but couldn't find any evidence on the skin. They said that with a dog and all of its hair, it can be really difficult to find the bite. They thought perhaps he had eaten a spider, and it caused the vomiting. Usually, if I find a spider in the house, I just take it outside because I've heard they are really good at eating other pests. However, I looked up the Brown Recluse Spider, you mentioned, and believe we may have them in Arizona. Not too long ago, I found a brown spider in a small plastic tub that was drying on the patio. Now, I'm mad that I didn't kill it, and instead just dumped it out. They sound like it could kill a dog.

I agree just google Brown Recluse and it will scare the pants off of you. I had a friend that got bit by one in AZ and in less than a week he lost a hugh amount of tissue around the bite and now has a hugh hole on his calf. They could easily kill a Yorkie.

| ![]() I just wanted to add a little here. My vet said that spiders can cause allergic reactions in dogs -- my Lula (lhasa apso) has had two allergic reactions over the past two years probably from a spider/bug bite -- so I just thought I would toss in our experience w/those dang spiders ![]() |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() I did, and the pictures all look so different. Have you ever seen one in person? I was wondering which picture was the closest to how it really looks. Some of the pictures almost show a hard type dark brown body, and it wasn't dark brown, it was more of a medium brown. The body was sturdy and the legs were not oversized for the body. They may like dry things normally, but here in AZ, I wonder if he got in the pan because it had a few drops of water in it.

| ![]() Brown Recluse spiders also have a dark spot that resembles a violin or an hour glass. Not sure if AZ is affected with this menace but I do know that states East of Tx and up North to Ohio need to be careful. Lissette |
