| ![]() What brand of bands does anyone recommend. I've tried the "no snarl" type but the mat her hair and hurt her when I have to remove them. She's got the hairs-in-the-eyes thing going but I'm trying to grow them out. Any suggestions?

| ![]() I've been there. I told a groomer DO NOT cut his muzzle or top knot. She of course did, but did not do a sanitary cut, which was the main reason I had taken him in. So after months of having to grow out his muzzle hair, I decided he needed an overall trim. I said DO NOT cut the muzzle hair or top knot, but please take off about an inch all over. Well, she left the top knot alone, but chopped him everywhere else. (see the pictures) Well now that his hair has grown back in, I've decided to just do it all myself. I bought a small pair of clippers and have been doing the sanitize and tipping. I am very pleased with his look now and when the time comes for a trim, I'm going to have a go at it. Even if it doesn't look that great, I'm sure it will be better than any of the "professional" grooms he's had. Anyway, I agree with you, it's very hard to find a groomer that listens. |

| ![]() Oh but I never answered your question! LOL! I would say don't cut the muzzle hair. Let it grow out for a topknot. ![]() Last edited by kwaymon; 03-05-2009 at 05:01 PM. Reason: Can't seem to get this post right! |

| ![]() I am having Bonnie groomed for the first time next week. What should I make sure they do? And why no anal gland extraction or ear hair removal? Thanks |

| ![]() Do you mean not to cut the hair by their eyes? I've taken Tila to the groomer and I never let them cut her hair on her head because I'm growing out her hair. But I did notice they cut her hair by her eyes, by the inside corners? When I was reading this my mouth dropped open and I was like no what did I do, what happened. If it's cut is it possible to grow it back? And the hair in the ears should that not be cut? I'm taking Tila to the groomer tomorrow, I'm all nervous now. |

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Here's another example (not my dog, but a picture I LOVE!): See how the top third of the ears have been "tipped" (shaved)? the other hair on the ears is left long, so it can hang down. Also the hair on the bridge of the nose is left long so it can either go up into the topknot or hang straight down the muzzle. I totally understand every one of your's pain that had a groomer that cut the nose bridge/eye corner hairs. Bella had hers cut at her very first grooming, and there was LOTS and LOTS of tears (hers) for quite awhile while those hairs were growing out.....I felt so sorry for her....hair sticking in the eyes is NOT fun! ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() I took Tila to the groomer yesterday, told them not to cut her hair on her head and by the eyes and bridge of nose and do you know what they did? The buzzed her hair off the bridge of her nose and by her eyes! I didn't notice it right away until I was on my way home, because her hair was all freshly washed and flopped in her face, I flipped it up to check on the way home and I noticed what they did. I was soooooo mad!! I couldn't call because they were closed already and they're closed today. I wonder if I should call on Monday and say something. Irk, it's gonna take forever to grow it back, I could just cry. |

As for the ears: I was told by my vet that some people believe that plucking ear hair is hygenic and can prevent infection; and that other people believe that plucking the ear hair opens up tiny wounds that can get infected. My vet is on this "don't pluck ear hair" side, so I go with their advice. I'm sure many people do the exact opposite. A sanitary cut is really nice, especially for boys; they should trim the nails, maybe clean the ears; and of course, make your dog look hot. ![]()

| ![]() When I went to a groomer yesterday, who use to groom my previous yorkie and I really liked, I verbalized to her and gave her the "Petey Haircut Instructions" sheet which I had made up after a previous grooming experience where I had asked the groomer not to cut the topknot, which she cut into that visor thing anyway, which then basically sticks straight out of his forehead and hangs in his eyes within a week of being groomed. I had almost gotten his topknot all grown out and back to normal after dealing with his horrible hair and not much you can do with it for the past 3 months. His hair stays so much better when it is able to all be pulled up into the topknot instead of hairs going every which way. Anyway, I was shocked when I picked Petey up from the groomer yesterday and saw how he was groomed. His bangs were cut AGAIN and now also in between his eyes on the bridge of his nose was cut!!! I tried to stay calm. When I asked her why she did that, she said she had misread the instructions and that she only cut the bangs "just a little bit"! When I asked her why she cut between the eyes, she said she cut there because the hair was poking him in the eyes. Well it is nothing like what is going to be poking him now when they are growing out! His body, ears, legs and everything else was fine. The instructions for his face were as follows, along with a picture of how he should look. Plus I told her in addition to the instruction sheet. FACE – Please DO NOT cut around the eyes. Leave topknot, but trim topknot shorter. Cut face short on sides. Does it really seem that confusing? ![]() ![]() ![]() The one picture is how he is suppose to look and how he looked before he got groomed with his topknot almost back to normal. The 2nd two pictures are how he looked after coming home from the groomer yesterday. His face is butchered! So mad!!!!
