Question about the hairs in between eyes on bridge of nose I'd like to know do you all cut this when trying to grow a top Knot? I was told that you should by a groomer and they did. I know the growing it out into the eyes is annoying and I use gel to keep it down but I wasn't sure and need to find a groomer in Northern VA that understands this process for Yorkies and/or Malteses. Thanks for your help! |

If you want a nice topknot...you do not trim the hair on the bridge of the nose nor give them bangs. You can use hair gel to keep it out of their eyes until it grows long enough. By 4 months a puppy's hair is long enough to stay out of their eyes. |

Thanks all. I thought so...yet the new groomer I tried for Kikyo said it needed to be cut, thus starting the process over. It was growing out great. So now I'm looking for a new groomer that actually listens to me for a change. We have had Kikyo 9 months and she just turned 1 year yesterday...so the search begins. It seems as if I will have to make the journey some miles for a groomer that listens. Actually, I had one that did believe it or not it was PetSmart a not so busy location in Dale City. Only 2 girls work in this place and that is the only groomer that did what I asked and understood why I wanted it. |
Grooming a Yorkie is quite easy, and it's safer and less expensive. You may want to try doing this yourself.;) |

Can someone recommend a good gel? |
Petedge has topknot gel. I think petsmart may be carrying this product. |
I really have used the kyjelly, as i was told it worked and it does. I used to use it for my little one when she was going through the "awkward" stage. It's also very inexpensive |

I have yet to find a groomer that will listen to me. The last time I had them groomed, I said "do not cut the body hair, just do...." She called me AFTER cutting Mayzie's body and said "I couldn't remember what we discussed" AAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhh-They both got cut short. I am trying to grow it all out again and I have been trimming them up. Both of their bridges were cut :( I am going to try some of these ideas. Maybe it will help us get through the growing back phase. Mo has very hairy feet (underneath) this is what I am nervous about cutting. |
I have a fantastic groomer in my area. If anyone lives in SF and wants the info, please PM me. I went in with a really long list of requirements (no anal gland expression, no ear hair removal, don't cut the muzzle hair, and on and on), AND Thor took a really nasty dump RIGHT before we went in. AND he was freaking out and crying. When I got him a few hours later, he came out this happy little dog with a great cut and untouched all the places I'd mentioned. His muzzle hair is seriously in his eyes right now, but every week I see some of it gain enough weight to fall naturally into place. |
