| My vet told me when I got Tucker at 7 wks old that he probably would be lucky to ever get to 5lbs. Probably not much more than 4 but 5 at the very most. He was 2 ounces from being 5lbs about 3 weeks ago at 5 months old. I reminded him that he said he probably would not even make it to 5lbs. He said you never know. You try to estimate but no one can really say for sure. He said he probably would gain maybe 1 or 2lbs by the time he is a year old. I really wanted him to be small but he is my baby boy and I love him so I dont care what size he ends up being. I love my kids however they turn out so I am going to love him too. I am sure you have a very adorable dog. My vet says it is better for them to be a little bigger anyway because they have less health issues than the really little ones. |

| When I read the caption of this thread I thought of my carrying Buddy in the snow because the salt hurts his paws and he's 16.5lbs. He was 6.5 at 14/12 wks and continued to gain 1lb a month until he was 1yr. Good luck with your new Teapot. |

| Baxter weighed just under 6 lbs at 6 months and now weighs just over 6 lbs. at 14 months so I think the vet tech could be wrong. Baxter looks a lot bigger to me than 6.5 lbs maybe because he ACTS bigger than 6.5 lbs. |

| My friends yorkie (jaxson) is 14lbs. He's definitely thick...but not fat!
