He ain't heavy, he's my Yorkie We went to the vet the other day and Sully weighed in at 7 pounds 10 ounces! He's 5 months old and the Vet's assistant said it looks like he's going to be a 15 pounder? Holy Ravioli - I didn't realize that these guys could get that big. All the growth charts I've checked say that the adult weight is 9 to 10 pounds. Anyone else with a Big Yorkie? |

he is 5 months? Well my baby was a whopping 3lbs at 9 weeks old. I thought for sure she was going to be a BIG girl:) But , no she is only 7 lbs and a yr. old tomorrow! Maybe he will slow down. It is so hard to tell what there full weight will be. He might just be a 8 lber or so. :aimeeyork |

Rory was 2 lbs, 10 ounces at 11 weeks old, and she now weighs almost 12 lbs. I just don't think there is anyway to know 100% for sure. We thought she was around 9 until her last vet visit too! |

my charlie is probably going to be big too. My friend came over yesterday..she has a yorkie too..she was surprise to see how big charlie is. I hope he stops growing. I love him the size he is at right now. I am not sure how much he weighs right now. I am thinking around 7-8 lbs or maybe even 9-10lbs at 6 months. |

Tucker grew very fast in the first 4 months of his life, at 10 weeks he was 2.5 pounds at 16 weeks he was 5 pounds. At 5 months and 9 days old he is still 5 pounds. He hasnt gained a single ounce in the last month. He hasnt grown anymore either. He is 7 inches tall and 8 inches long, he has been that size for almost 2 months. I thought for sure that he too was going to be a bigger yorkie, 8 to 10 pounder but I honestly dont think he is going to get any bigger. It really is hard to tell how big or small these little guys end up being. |

i don't have a big yorkie, but milu is smaller than what the grwoth chart said she would be. so you really never know. her parents are both around 5 lbs, and she is smaller than that (3lbs) so i guess you can't really tell since there's always exceptions. lol! |

My Trixie was spayed on Friday and she is 9 lbs and she is 6mo. Who knows what you'll get. Just like skin kids. Whatever you get you love. |

My girl is 11.5 lbs, and I think she's perfect! She hikes very long distances with me, which I doubt that she could manage if she was a dainty little thing. I can't imagine Penny being anything other than the "big", rowdy terrier that she is. :D |

I have a 13-14 lber. Years ago, yorkies were actually about 30ish lbs and through the years have been bred down to the sizes that we know today. Occasionally there will be an old gene pop up every now and then - hence the larger "teapots" as they are affectionately known as. Truthfully, a lot of dogs start slowing down their growth at 6 months-ish. I know Chip didn't grow at all after 6 months and we got Smokey at 6 months and he was already grown. He probably won't get that much bigger - maybe a lb or two if any at all. |

My puppy is pretty big for a Yorkie, but don't worry because he hasn't gained any weight in the last 2 months and he is 5 months old too! My vet said that they are 85% done growing by the time they are 6 months, so unless your puppy is going to almost double in size in the next month, I doubt he will be 15 lbs. I think some dogs get their growth spurt earlier than others so he may not grow much more. |
