Tatum is only crated when we have to leave the house. And if it's only for 30 minutes or so, we don't crate her. She's 5 years old now and very good with pottying but I still think it's safer to crate her when the house is empty.

Pao pretty much have free reign 24/7. We completely trust him and he has been really good for us ever since he was a 6 month old puppy. We do babygate the stairs and leave him upstairs when we go out and that is only because I don't want him running up and down the stairs when we are not around. He also has a lounger upstairs that enables him to look outside and also another peepad upstairs so we feel it is the most comfortable for him to be upstairs when we are out. In case we didn't close the door properly, he wouldn't have the chance to run out either.

The only time we pen him is when we were moving because he has to be able to see us all the time so putting him in the pen is the best way to go while keeping him out of danger. He hates to be crated or penned and behaves really well so 99% of the time, he runs free.

My little Tucker is free to roam the house when we're here. If we leavenhim alone for for any period of time, he goes into his little pen.That is for his safety. When he does roam around the house, I ckeck on him every few minutes. I like to know where he is at all times. He gets into lots of mischief.

I don't dare leave my two mischief makers out of their pens when I am gone (they are both puppies still) but when I am home they are free to roam under supervison. They would get into all kinds of trouble when I am gone if left to their own devices, LOL. They manage to get into mischief when I right there watching. We do have a step over gate at the front door so they cannot run out if someone comes and we have a big fenced backyard. They are not left unsupervised in the back yard. We go out with them.

Mia is only in her crate if we go out (which is rarely as I don't have a life

) other than that she's free to roam!

she is always in our view for now but thats because she is being potty trained. When she is trained she can run free but if we are not home she will go in her crate for short periods of time only.

Mine gets free run of the house minus the kitchen and she doesn't do stairs so I have never encouraged her to try because I think it's the best for the both of us and the cat to leave it that way.

She also doesn't have access to one particular bedroom unless someone's there, otherwise, the door to it is usually closed. No baby gates and no kennels in the house. She goes inside on the pad and also outside when it's dry and we take her for a walk.

Same goes for my late shihtzu except that she did do stairs, and she had total free roam of the house unsupervised, including countertops where she'd manage to get up onto to feast on bakery goods.

She thought she was a flying beagle.

I close the Bathroom door and my son's room all the time. We live in a Apartment , so it is not huge. When we are not home I close my bedroom door. We use a baby gate when the front door is opened. During the night, Suzi sleeps with me, and if i fall asleep on the couch she is there with me. Then goes to bed with me.
She is such a good girl!

charlie does not have free run of the house yet. We are still potty training and plus he eats everything. He gets to come out when we are home and I am free to watch him. I have to watch over his every move in case he eats something dangerous even though I vaccummed and cleaned the house..he is still able to find things to eat..Otherwise, if i am busy then he stays in his crate which is big enough for him to play in with all his toys. He is crated at night time for his own safety and potty training.

when we are home Bentley has free range except for the kitchen which is gated off. We let him run free cause he will run to the back door and play with the blinds when he needs to go potty. at night he sleeps in our room with the door closed and also stays in the bedroom when he is home alone (we leave pee pads, food, water, toys etc in there) it works well for us. I think you need to do whatever works best for your family

Buddy has had full run of our house since he was between 10-12mos old.
Once he was trained at 6months I kept allowing him more freedom until
he had the whole house to himself when I worked. It was my goal to
have him be free while I was gone.

Buddy has free run of the house during the day, except for the bedrooms, at night he sleeps in the kitchen in one of his three beds. But when we move in two months, I will change things as we live in a Bungalow now and moving to a house, so I will be getting gates

Bria use to have free run of of the...but now we are still potty training so most of the time she is in her crate but she does get some "free" time once she has went potty outside..I hope she gets the potty thing down soon!

I live in a fully finished rambler, my boys are 4 & 6. They have the main area of the house, but not the basement (unless we are down there hanging out) and the spare bedrooms are also gated off. I noticed the more room they have, they tend to run off and leave me a little present. At night they both sleep in bed with me. No problems overnight.
