Yes, you are right 100% there are many bad animals that can obtain a title but there are also many stunning champions and these stunning champions are producing excellent dogs too. If a bloodline is consistent in producing nice animals I will go for that. I feel that there are many breeders outthere that are working very hard to produce stunning/amazing and healthy Yorkies. We cannot generalize but I would say that if someone has been involved for so many years in the show ring then that person is working very hard to produce nice/sound animals. I would trust this person more than an unknown breeder. Again, just my point of view and I do not mean to offend anyone!

I think color and coat are always important, whether your prized pet, or your BISS winning show dog. Even a pet owner wants a dog that looks like it is supposed to. I'll give you an example, my cocker is a PET..always has been, spayed at 8 months old, never bred, HOWEVER her father is a world Champion, and her mother is also a Champion. She has a beautiful pedigree, and is a GORGEOUS dog. When people see her, they don't realize She IS a cocker because she is correct and they are used to seeing BYB Crap! Point being, even though I was buying a pet, I still wanted a GORGEOUS pet.

My Yorkie is 9 months old and I have only had to trim his feet a little. I have been reading about this gene that reverts back to the original Yorkie. They used to try to bread them every 5th time with a red leg to keep the original genes strong. Just google red legged yorkie.

Yep, mine is too. He has never been groomed. I have trimmed his feet and privates but he really doesn't need trimming. His coat is very silky but thick and wiry too. He also has some brindle and party markings. The red comes from a gene from the original Yorkies and used to be bread back into them every 5 th or so time to keep the genes going. I don't think they do in anymore. I sure am glad I don't have to groom him all the time, and what a money saver.

My Maddie was a red leg. She was the sweetest little girl. I adopted her at 4yrs, and had her for 10 yrs. I never had to trim her other than her feet in the 10 years she was with me. her coat was always shiny, and was not sparse, it just didn't grow. RIP Maddie girl, mommy misses you!
