Donating YT 500 Club Member | Foods to Avoid Often I turn up some of the most interesting things on a search engine's search on Yorkies. This is a retail store but has a great list of foods to avoid giving your Yorkie and the explanation. I feel certain this is on our site somewhere but I thought some of you newer members are like me and haven't found all the treasures on this site yet. In the meantime, this printout could be helpful. Don't feed to your dog! |

| Good list but I wonder why sugar and corn syrup are on there. Get to the vet immediately for sugar?

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I wondered about that, too, at first but I decided they must mean an excessive amount. For example if they turned over a bottle of it and licked most of it up. Wouldn't it send them into a state needing insulin? Since it is such a concentrated sugar, my assumption is that to give it in great quantities would be harmful. Of course, I have been wrong before...LOL |

| No idea but lets not break this to Ellie. She may get worried that her vanilla ice cream privileges will be taken away.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | LOL...I have a friend with a Yorkie who absolutely loves ice cream, too. I'm going to have to stock things totally different when we get our Yorkie because all our human treats are sugar free. The hardest part will be in making sure my husband doesn't absentmindedly get something with sugar. For some reason I had never picked up on the need to avoid sugar free items for Yorkies. Tonight I've read two different threads relating to that subject. I am so grateful for this time to read and absorb experiences others are having with their Yorkies. Granted, I'll probably make my own mistakes but hopefully they will help someone else. |
