What a waste of money! Why do I keep doing it?

Spent 40.00 getting my little one groomed, got her nails done, and a cute little haircut including her butt (helps keeps the dinkleberries off), even got a little bow and for what, 5 minutes after I walked in the house, her bow was gone and of course she needed to go potty so now she has dinkleberries (which I cleaned again) and because she rolled around in the grass, she smells like and looks like a stray dog.

Why do I even bother? I usually groomed her myself but every three months or so, I take her to the groomers for haircuts and nails. She won't let me touch her nails!!!! I wonder how the groomer is able to do it. I hope she isn't hurting my baby.

Well at least her haircut still looks good.

i have always groomed my own dogs. Im telling you the pedipaw works miracles. You just have to hold them down long enough to do a nail or 2 and show them it doesnt hurt and they will then be okay with it!

My girl is the sweetest dog but when it came to her nails she would get so mean.

$40 bucks to get a little yorkie groomed is a little steep...I paid $25 for my babies (last July), it included bath, shave down for summer, nail clipping, the works.
I'm actually going to grooming school right now. It's so much FUN. We restrain your babies very well, esp. if they tend to wiggle (not by the throat either)...so don't worry!

I am going to try doing her nails myself again, except for a periodic haircut, there really is no need for me to take her to the groomers. I am so scare of cutting the hair around her eyes, I am just too nervous so I prefer a professional for that. So far the lady I take her too hasn't poke her eyes out.

Today though when I picked her up, she looked so darn cute, I could see her eyes again and her little crooked grin with of course her tongue hanging out. I swear she could of gotten away with almost anything today. There was no way I could stay mad at her if she were to misbehave! I probably would of just pick her and kissed her over her face. Well I sort did that anyway.

I have to admit, she always looks better when the groomer does her.

I know what you mean!
I took Abby to be groomed and maybe 1/2 hour after i got her home, she had her bow out. The hair on the top of her head is much thinner than my other 2 where. I have tried to put a barret in her hair and one shake of her head and it's out. I need to find some that are good and will stay in. I really am not fond of the bands. Anyone have any ideas?

I pay $35.00 for the nails only...the pad trimming is another $15.00. I have to take Prince to his vet because he gets hysterical. I wish I could use one of a gagets that's out, but I can't. I've bought both of them, and returned both. His vet even told me to give him Benedryl an hour before bringing him in to clam him down!!
I'm not complaining, just stating facts. I'm open for suggestions.

$40 wow...The last time I had KiKi's nails done at the groomer...KiKi was a wreck and me too....because I was holding her...she was crying and whinning and the groomer was not very nice / understanding....I know the nails must be cut and the hair in between removed....and I know KiKi was over reacting....by whinning and crying....but I think the groomer should have been NICE...not annoyed!!
So from that day on....I started doing it myself....I hold her and my husband clips her nails...and yes ....she STILL howls like she is being murdered!! LOL...but the more we do it...the more she will get used to it... I HOPE!

$35 for a nail trim! I pay less than that for the entire dog. The one thing I can suggest it to work with him every day. Put a towel on a high counter, place him on to of the towel so he does not slide around and touch him all over his body while giving treats and praise. Do this several times a day until he is very comfortable with you touching him. Hold his paws and touch each nail, his ears, eyes all over. It really does work. I did it with Pebbles and she was a nightmare. Now she is one of the groomers favorites.

Wow, you're spending a small fortune! Poor Prince, he must hate it! I used Benedryl for one of my pups when she had an allergic reaction, it made her sleepy. Try the tablet form, cuz liquid tastes horrible & she wouldn't let me go near her mouth for awhile. Try putting the nail clipper next to him & giving him his favorite treat, he'll start associating that the clipper is a good thing, not a torture device! Massage his paws, under the paws, touch his nails, he'll get used to it. Momo hates his nails being trimmed too. I can cut his back nails by lifting his two back legs & he can't wiggle cuz he thinks he has to balance himself. The front is a struggle though. If I can cut one nail, I'll over praise him & give lots of kisses. I can't do it in one day, I have to give him breaks cuz he'll start hyper-ventilating!

Patsy's groomer charges $30.00 for "the works". Patsy just loves going there, so I have to assume she's not been hurt. Patsy says her name is Sherri Scissorhands... she loves to visit Sherri. Had a groomer once that insisted we use Benedryl, but Sherri says no way. I think as a yorkie ages, they really love to be handled and brushed, actually I think Patsy thinks someone is lavishing her with love.

My Diddy does the same thing...I swear you would think we were trying to kill him while it is nothing to J'Lo.....I can't afford to pay to have his nails clipped everytime so I have my daughter hold him and I clip......maybe one day he will get used to it.....I did buy the pedipaw and he still screams it is so much faster for me to clip him.....
