You can take Truman's story and multiply that by the thousands of other rescue stories out there. Unfortunately, there are many, many more that have very sad endings.

How sweet that you would offer to help! Only problem is that this is a very old thread from back in February Every once in a while Truman has a fan club that likes to bump this thread to get a "TRUMAN FIX/Update". Truman is now here with me and THRIVING! If you read through the entire thread you will see how sick and at deaths door he was when I made the trip to pick him up and how he healed and is now thriving living with me as my foster. He really is a wonderful little guy who could have been just another statistic in the millions of dogs PTS every year! ![]() Welcome to YT! This is a great place to hang out and learn and become involved for the love of our Yorkies Thanks for the friend request

| My poor Truman the vet said that he has doggie senility for lack of better word to call it About 3 weeks ago I took him to the vet because he had been walking around and crying at night. I was not sure what was bothering him and suspected his anal gland adenoma might be the problem. The vet expressed his glands, gave him and antibiotic and said the he should be much better in a few days and he did seem to be better for about a week. But he has been getting up at night and wandering around the house crying like he might be in pain. So we went back to see the vet today and he expressed his glands again. My poor little guy cried so much both times it just broke my heart but I knew it needed to be done. I have notice that he has been walking into corners and just standing there like he does not know how to get himself out~if that makes any sense. I assumed it was because he is not able to see very well. He also has had a very hard time finding his water bowl unless I physically pick him up and put the bowl to his nose for him to drink. It's like he has forgotten how to drink When I put his food down he will eat part of it and then just stop unless I put him back to the bowl and bring it to his nose to finish. Every night he now gets up at 3 AM and wanders around the house crying. If I don't jump out of bed and take him outside he will now pee on the floor so I have started putting a belly band on him at the time. I am so worried about him I just want to cry. He looks so lost and confused when he is wandering around crying. It is a deep soulful moan. My poor little man. I had a long discussion with the vet and he said that there really is not anything that can be done. I just pick him up and try to hold him for comfort but he really doesn't take much comfort from human contact. This is just so hard knowing that he has had such a hard life and now he is with me and doesn't even know how much I love him and want to make him final year just safe and comfortable for him. He's sleeping now and looks like a sweet little puppy. It is just breaking my heart to see him like this. My poor Truman ................

| Oh I am so very sorry about sweet Truman's problems. Poor little thing. I am so glad you have him and he has love. Bless you for taking such care of him and I am sure you are comforting him, even if it does not feel like it. Hugs to you both.

But Truman "does" knows you love him. Even if you only gave him 1 day of love, I can't even type this I feel so bad for him. Thank you for taking Truman in, so many just would have looked the other way but not you! Truman loves you and we love you too. You make the world a much better place.

| Oh Jodi, I'm so sorry. I know that he can feel your love for him. You've given him so much and made all the difference in his life and somewhere deep inside he still knows this. I've teared up too much typing this, but I'm sending you and Truman big, big hugs.

We talked about Xanax but we decided that it really wouldn't address what is going on with him. It would be used more with aggressive behaviors and that is not how Truman is behaving. We are going to increase the arthritis meds that I had just recently cut back to see if it might help relax him a little and also if the adenoma was bothering him it will help with that pain as well. The vet also said that he was prescribing a med that was developed to help with this issue in dogs. But he said that after attending a lecture by one of the vets that was in on the study of this drug (I forget the name) he decided to ship it all back to Pfizer since it did not do what they promised it would do for the dogs. ![]() My vet is great and I think the world of him. I just found out that he is involved with Greyhound rescue He basically just said that we should keep him comfortable as possible and just love him. ![]() Thank you everyone for all of your very kind words they really do mean so much to me. I have to hold onto the idea that his time with me will be with all of my love and care possible.

| I am so sorry to hear this. Know that you have taken wonderful care of him, Jodi. I have had pups do this....it is very sad to watch. Think about what he was like when you got him...you have given him something he so deserved. He knows he is loved.
