Tongue Are dog mamas natural worriers?

Puddin' won't be here until Saturday, but I find myself concerned about her when I don't hear from the breeder every few days.

When my Maltese go off to the groomers (they have a pick-up and delivery service), I start getting concerned if they aren't back in about three hours.

My ancient Foxy was in hospital Tuesday for some tests and xrays (turns out she has deteriorating vertebrae in her neck)...I fretted about her for the whole day and got basically nothing done until she was safely back home.

I have a huge back yard (1/3 acre). If they don't come when I call them, I start getting worried (we went hunting for one with a flashlight last night because he didn't come in when it got dark).

Am I just neurotic? Or are all dog mamas this way?

I don't know about everybody else but if I don't see my Shelby Rea in the room with me I go looking for her and if she's outside too long i go out to find her..i was so mad at my hubby last night because he took them out front to potty,,( they love that for some reason) even though they have a doggie door , anyway I came downstairs and looked over at the front door and there was my baby's face looking in the side lights on the door...HE Had left her out front...I could have spit nails I was so mad....so don't feel bad we just love them so much, that's why we worry so much....I worry because Shelby is 8 and she's getting to her later years soon...I won't know what to do with out her..they will have to sedate me if anything happens to her and i worry about if something happens to me who would take care of her like she deserves...
Anywhoo , I'm obviously ,more nurotic than you so don't feel bad...

Oh, I can relate! Our ancient Foxy has been sick and yesterday was her first spunky day in weeks. Hubby went out front to get the mail yesterday, and the old lady followed him without either of us seeing her. Fortunately our front is a fenced in courtyard, so she couldn't leave the property.

Anyway, bedtime came and we called the dogs in and the old Foxy didn't show up. We actually went out in the back, which is huge, with flashlights, looking for her. Then, for some reason, I went to the front door and opened it and guess who was snoozing on the mat? She was asleep and since she is hard of hearing, she didn't hear us calling her! I was nearly beside myself with worry about her, she's been so sick, and there she was, napping on the doormat!

I hear you babe. My good friend (another yorkie owner) and I were talking about this last week while I waited for my pup to get back from her spay. I tend to find myself more concerned when there is something unusual going on (like her spay surgery) or when she isn't acting like herself. I think its OK.

Oh my gosh, YES!!! I am a chronic worrier!!! My husband makes fun of me all the time. I can't help it though. I worry if he isn't acting quite himself, I worry if he gets too far away from me while we are in the backyard (he doesn't go out alone, I am afraid he will find a hole in the fence and get out), I worry if he doesn't eat, if he doesn't drink, just everything! I think the worst part to me is the fact that they can't say "Hey mom, its ok, I am just having an off day" or "My tummy hurts really bad, I think its serious". They just can't tell us what the problem is. And they are just sooooo little.....I completely understand. I am probably the worst!!!

Although DH loves our kids, and would be equally devastated if something happened, he does think I get a little too overprotective sometimes. I think a lot of it is just in our maternal makeup. I can usually spot something starting days before it's showing enough for DH to see. I know we have a lot of Yorkie Daddy's on YT and I'm sure they are tuned into their kids just as much, there are always exceptions to the rule. But generally, I think women just are more in tune to these things, it's just the way we are made.

1/3 acre backyard!!! Oh I'd have a heart attack letting mine out in something that large. (see...overprotective ) I really want to be able to see and watch them at all times when they are out. We have hawks and owls a plenty around here and Gracie Ruth or Yogi would barely be a snack for them. I rely a lot on Boo's 10 lbs size to be a deterrent, but feel it's really my responsibility to keep them safe. Even DH will keep an eye skyward when out in the yard with the kids.

I am a worrier, when we got Bella she was so tiny and we were really worried about her getting under our feet (heard a horrible story about someone tramping on their pup) so we got her a bell, if I dont hear that bell I start panicking...

Oh, I'm going to that Vetshop on Saturday to get Puddin a collar/harness. I shop at that Woolies several times a week.

So you know where Table View high school is? I live a couple of blocks from there

Quite honestly I dont really know where the school is, oh wait I think I do actually, is it close to Jansens road?

I drove past there once! I want to get Bella a harness, I believe a colar is not good for Yorkies, will probably get one soon

The world is a real small place isnt it?

oh gosh, Im horrible. Im always worried about them. I don't let them outside without me being out there with them. If they are not in bed with me I feel depressed. If they decide to go to bfs lap I feel sad. When they poop outside I make sure its NORMAL... Im on poop patrol everyday. When I have to use salt outside I carry them down the stairs before letting them on the ground. I take away all bones and treats before I leave for any amount of time. I LOVE my groomers and had no problems leaving them there... but after about 5 hours I start to get antsy without them. Just in general when I am around I always have one eye on them. Its so sad! haha

sign me up for the worrywart club lol

sometimes when my kids are sleeping, i feel the need to double check that they are breathing so i will get super close and make sure their chests are going up and down or when i am really paranoid, i will breathe on them a little bit to make sure their ears and noses twitch

if we are outside in the backyard (fully fenced in) and i need to run inside for a potty bag or something, we ALL go inside and back out again
