| If I remember correctly I got mine (2) one for downstairs - sofa, and one for upstairs - bed, from Home Shopping Network. They are plastic with a lambskin cover which is removable and washable. I think I paid roughly around 40-50.00 for them 2 years ago....Mine are both 4 steps high. I know you can also get them 3 steps or 5 steps also... Hope this helps...

| I got the first one at an "As Seen On TV" store (sheepskin, 3 steps); I got the second one at Petsmart (carpeted, 4 steps). One is for his bed...I mean our bed, the other is for the window. |

| I hadn't heard about a "ramp." That seems a little safer. |

| Ramps seem nicer for the dog but let me tell you, they will HURT you. LOL I had a ramp for the bed since the bed is so high I didnt want them jumping. I was so proud of my lovely ramp until I came in from shopping with my wares in hand, misjudged the ramp placement, hooked my heel from my boot in the corner, ripped it from the bed, scratched the bed, sent me (and I am not a little girl) hurling towards the oak wood (hard as he**) dresser. Tried to catch myself but had on leather gloves and had just polished the dresser hours before and I slid right off that into the doggie toybox. Thank GOD the toybox is made of mesh! I showed that ramp who was boss! I got up, beaten by my furniture, picked up the ramp and walked it out to the burn pile while my husband watched wondering what the he** was going on and I lite the pile! I bought plastic steps with carpeted tops the next day at Petco. Hubby wouldnt even go with me cuz he thought they would think he beats me. LOL |

| We had bought about 3 sets from WalGreens because they all kept breaking with the slightest amount of weight. Our current stairs are from Bed, Bath, and Beyond. My grandparents bought them for us, but I believe they were about $20-25 and hold up really well. I really like them.

| No, I know it wasn't. The amusing part was the fact that your husband wouldn't go with you to the store. Take care |

| Thanks for your suggestions. I'm investigating these options. Right now we are trying to keep him off the couch...as well as we can anyway. This means that since I want to cuddle with him that I'm on the floor too. This is no fun but I hope that in a couple of weeks we can introduce the stairs and teach him to only come up when he is invited. |

| This ramp is Foam and it's perfect for the couch height. I covered mine in fabric - got T pins to hold the fabric in place (inserting them at the bottom) - then I got that 'rubber like shelf liner' and made it so it has traction control I think a ramp is much better for the knees |
