| We just Had Some Babies.... Well this morning at 1:30am Gigi had her first litter of pups....Me and my husband were nervous wrecks as you can see from some of my threads lol...Gigi did great.... Now I do have one question....Is it ok to touch the pups? or should we wait...Can I move the mamma to make sure all of the pups are out? she is curled up taking care of 2 of them, she was suppose to have 3 but I didn't know if it was ok to move everything around.... I tried to call her to her potty pad to see if she would get up to go potty and she wouldn't.... |

| So happy for you and the new momma I would just let them be for now, I think you would know if their was a problem. But I would post in the breeder community.

Congratulations on first babies , i still remember my first Yorkie babies almost 25 years ago- seems like yesterday watch her carefully for the next few hours and days untill you are sure every thing is ok - also don't for get tail docking /dew claw removal at 3 to 5 days of age - thats a good time to have your vet check mama over if there is no problem before . Keep us posted and lets see pics

| oh, when you take her outside to potty watch her VERY carefully. my friend took her mommy dog outside to potty when she was in the middle of having puppies and the mom had one outside and when the lady realized that she had it outside it was already too late |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Hello and congratulations.. yes to all the above, I handle Taffy's babies as soon as they were out of the sack, I dried them and rub them with a towel, sucked the noses with the bulb to make sure they were breathing and stuff, also I moved them every time she had contractions and was whelping the next pup. we had 4 we were told 5 but hey sometimes they miss...LOL , I took Taffy to the deck to pee I did not let her out in the yard, and I was there with her just in case. Best of luck with your babies and again congratulations, don't forget to feed her the mother's or whelping pudding now so she can keep her calcium and nutrients going while she is lactating.. hugs, CArmen in nj |
