| puppy play with kids Just a quick question. Bronx is at the age where he thinks everything is his own personal chew toy - including the kids. He doesn't do this to me, (although he does love chasing my slippers when I'm walking in them lol) but he is constantly doing it to the kids. I have been telling them that if he starts chewing or play biting them to deter him with a toy instead. My question is, should I be telling him no also? I did start telling him no and then giving him a toy, is there anything else you guys can suggest that maybe I haven't thought of? It's important to me for him to understand that the kids are higher in the pack than he is, so any suggestions would help. Thanks!! |

| With Missy, I just said "NO BITING" in a stern voice. If she still didn't stop biting, I would pick her up and take her away from the kids. Teaching them to offer a toy is great, but didn't work with Missy. So, I taught my kids to ignore her and stop playing with her when she would bite. It took about a week or 2, but it worked.

| Same here. They will tell him "No bite." in a stern voice and if he doesn't stop they'll stop playing with him and either leave his room or get up on the couch where he can't reach them and ignore him for a few minutes. It's really worked well for my sons, but for some reason he just can't resist nibbling on my 7yo daughter. (It could be because she is giggling the whole time, lol) |

| No, don't tell the kids to give him a toy when he's being bad All you're doing is rewarding him for biting your kids Tell them when he does this they say NO! and get up and leave I know children sometimes think that play biting is fun and you'll have to talk to your children about this but it can get bad if it continues
